"You must be mistaken my dad is my biological father." I lied turning my back on stating I didn't want to continue speaking to him.
He quickly got out of the booth and followed me. "Please listen to me, I know you don't want anything to do with him, but I have to know it's you." He reached out for my arm and pulled it out of his grip.
"Don't touch me." I spat angrily. Who does this Jack guy think he is? He can't come into the cafe asking me these questions. "You have the wrong person."
Xavier heard the camossion and came over to see what was going on. Jack took a step back once Xavier took a place next to me.
"I'm not trying to stir up problems. I want to talk to you Juliana. I'm out of place to ask for such a favor but this is important." He begged me, desperation gleaming in his eyes.
"Get out." Xavier commented calmly.
"Tell him to not come looking for me nor to send his kids. It's been thirteen years too late to come looking for me." I turned around and made my way to the bar.
"You have the story all wrong." Jack stated, making me stop on my tracks. I turned to look at him confused.
"He couldn't be in your life because he couldn't find you. If you don't want to speak to me about it, I understand. Maybe, this will make you change your mind on not wanting to talk to him." He pulled out a white envelope from his pocket and handed it to me.
"My dad explained to me you wouldn't want to speak to me so he wrote you a letter. If you read it and stick to your idea of not speaking to him, it's fine. It's your decision but I want to clear off the weight on my shoulders. I tried speaking to you and I gave you the letter. I did my part." He pulled out his wallet and left a ten dollar bill on the table in front of him. Without saying anything else he left the cafe.
I stared at the envelope wondering if I truly wanted to open it. Did it matter to me what was inside anyway? He hadn't reached out to me since he left us so why come looking for me now?
"Are you going to open it?" Xavier asked, curiously.
"I don't know. Don't tell mom about Jack or this letter."
"It's not my business to say anything. You didn't interfere when she wanted to come back to life, I won't either." He was referring to when his biological mother wanted to reconnect with Xavier. After getting out of rehabilitation center for drug use and alcoholism for the fifth time, she wore she was a changed woman. Problem was Xavier didn't want to see her, the lady lost her parental right when he was four. He lived enough hell from birth till his fourth birthday to rekindle the connection they never had.
"Thanks." I smiled, folding the envelope I placed it in my back pocket. I made my way back to the bar and continued to take orders from waiting customers.
The drama never stops on my life--ever.
The rest of the day went in a breeze. The cafe wasn't busy and I was able to finish some duties in the back, when I was getting ready to head out to go home, I received a text from Demi.
D: Can you meet me up at the pizzeria by the school after the play ends? I want to talk to you.
J: Yeah, I'll meet you there.
I hadn't thought about Demi sudden outburst since Friday. It was obvious on what was going on yet it didn't bother me much anymore. She stole a kiss from Alejandro and he made it clear he doesn't like her. Plus, what she has going on emotion wise with Alejandro wasn't something I could deal with. Those are her feelings and we all have to respect them, even if the person on the end of the stick doesn't feel the same. The question is does she understand she has to respect what Alejandro feels?
