I waited for my name to be called by a staff member while class was in session. My stomach had tightened I to a double-knot aching a little more with each passing hour. The thought of what was going to happen to Xavier and Alejandro made me want to puke. Everything they ever worked for in high school was going to go down the drain. No university was going to want them knowing they started a disgusting game like this. Even if this scandal doesn't go public, there is going to be a section classified on their transcripts.
I laid my head down on my desk and tried to keep myself calm by taking deep breathes. My head was beginning to thud and an intense pressure was erupting from where I had gotten stitches. My fingers glided over the staples and shivers ran down my spine. It continued to be one thing after another and I don't think my body was going to be able to take the stress. Physically, I felt ill, there was something wrong with me right now.
"Juliana Richerman." I heard a voice call my name.
Here we go. I picked up my head and my eyes landed to the principal's secretary. All eyes were on me as I got up from the desk and grabbed my belongings. I didn't understand why they all looked disgusted by my name being called. Half of these girls had slept with numerous guys and most of the guys were in the game. If I wanted to, I could hand over the book and we would all go down. There wasn't a way they could suspend all of us.
I followed the assistant to the office anticipating what was yet to come when I walk through the glass doors. My parents were going to ground us for life, they'll send us to boarding school for disciplinary actions. After my stunt of running off and Xavier not being home most of the time, they were looking for the perfect opportunity to send us off.
The glass doors opened and I made my way to the back of the office where the principal's office was located. Entering the room, the guys and the girls were here. We had all been ratted out and we were lined up to be broken down by our superiors. The girls seemed relaxed being in the office. They carried the same monotone expressions of their everyday life, not a hint of fear reflected off their faces.
"Ms. Richerman I am sure you know why you are here." The principal spoke out.
I shook my head. "I believe I don't."
He rolled his eyes, seeing past my lie. "You're the ringleader of this prostitution ring." He said.
Prostitution ring? My eyes nearly popped out of my eye-sockets. He was seeing the game as a prostitution ring when clearly no one was being paid for the sex. Two people of opposite gender were agreeing to fornicate knowing the guy was part of the jersey game.
"I'm confused as to what you are saying." I truthfully responded.
"Your friends and you started this game where guys sleep with girls and they have a number representing it. Cut the crap out I know everything."
"I do apologize but I'm afraid you're misinformed. I don't know what you are talking about, I am not involved." I stood my ground. I wasn't sure what had gone down before I was called. Maybe someone gave up our cover or we were all playing stupid like we agreed.
He sighed heavily. "The more you guys lie the deeper in trouble you are." He was losing patience with us by the corn in his neck starting to transmit through his skin.
"We know what you are talking about but there wasn't really a leader of it. The guys just played a game." Alejandro shrugged.
"These students didn't receive jackets without having Maria ordering them." He began to raise his voice. Talking speculation and no proof she was the one who ordered the jackets.
"I haven't ordered any jerseys since Coach Jessie asked me to order for the soccer team. No material has been used from my part!" Maria responded, keeping her body gesture calm. They weren't going to be able to find where the money came from to get the jackets when we didn't order them. In the activities room, there was a locked closet and Maria found the key to open the door. Inside there were boxes of jackets never used. We assumed the boxes got stuffed inside the closet and were forgotten about when the room was switched from downstairs to the second floor.
