**** Lily Allen - Naive
This is probably gonna end soon ****
YeongMi was stiff as stone when she walked through the halls; she resembled the sculptures more than she did the other students.
Perhaps it wouldn't have been so bad, were it not for the fact that Namjoon kept crossing paths with her. Why couldn't he just leave her alone? It was utterly irritating.
Only because everytime she saw him, her heart twisted inexplicably, as much as she pretended that it didn't.
Namjoon found his own heart clenching in his chest whenever he noticed her; he, however, didn't bother denying it. Instead, he buried it beneath mounds of regret.
YeongMi couldn't decide which was worse, seeing Namjoon or seeing Mrs. Park.
With a careless slam, YeongMi entered the office and immediately slouched into the chair, avoiding Mrs. Park. She looked everywhere, from the ceiling to the carpet, from her shoes to her nails, everywhere but Mrs. Park.
Last week, she had been in the same situation, and she had been offered a deal. She refused, and she had to commit to it, even if she thought she didn't want to.
"So, are you finally sated, or do you want to continue cleaning bathrooms in your free time?"
"Oh, could I really?! That would be a pleasure, truly. I'm so excited, can I call my parents? They'll be so proud that I, out of all the students, was chosen for this prestigious award! Me, how special! It's such an honour, I think I might tear up," YeongMi dabbed at her eyes dramatically, letting out an ugly huff of a sob before allowing her face to return to its neutral expression.
Truly, her pride would not allow her to give in, not after she had insisted she would never do it. Her dedication, her word was on the line, and she would not have it ruined just because she was tired.
"You would rather scrub floors than take the alternative punishment, just because you don't wish to speak with your classmates?"
Precisely.
"Do you have that little faith in me? It's only been a week, why would I break so easily? That hurts," YeongMi sighed.
"And I suppose even if you agreed to have counseling with your classmates, I couldn't trust you to actually attend." Mrs. Park stared dryly at YeongMi over her rims, and YeongMi found herself wondering why Mrs. Park even wore glasses, if she was only going to leave them perched on the tip of her nose rather than over her eyes.
A sly smile, "someone catches on quick. So, then, what now?"
"Well, you're not the only one with pride to lose, so I suppose you continue scrubbing toilets and I continue hoping that you'll cave in."
"Marvelous. Then, may the best will win." YeongMi scowled, and this time, the door slamming was entirely intentional.
YeongMi could just stop cleaning, and the problem would be solved. Worst case scenario, she would be kicked out, but that didn't bother her in the slighest.
Something in her gut told her that wasn't so.
