YeongMi was relieved when the day was finally over. She struggled to find her dormitory, but she was too prideful to ask for help.

By the time she found her room, it was well past the intended curfew; she had run from 3 teachers that were monitoring the halls.

She quickly entered her room, locking the door behind her and looking around.

A kitchen area, a living space, a bedroom, a balcony, even a complete bathroom.

She had to hand it to her parents, they really did work to get her the best room here. Truth be told, this could very well have been one of the permanent teachers rooms, before her parents got involved. It's amazing what a simple investment towards the school can do for people.

She scowled; sure, she was grateful to have the place to herself - roommates were too nosy - but it still didn't make her forgive her parents for sending her here.

She was determined to spite them, as petty and childish as it was.

Just because she got a nice dorm room to herself didn't make her forget that her parents had practically kicked her out of her home, minus the scandal of it all.

That's all it was, of course, avoiding scandal. They didn't give a rat's ass if she was happy here, they were just painting a pretty picture for the press.

She only hoped they would keep their promise to her - they had never before, but she couldn't help but hope.

She agreed to come here, on the condition that the teachers kept her identity quiet. She was to be referred to by a false name, so that no one would know who her parents really were.

The least they could do was keep their 'darling daughter' out of the press; they knew how she felt about the cameras and the fame. Everything they adored, she hated. And, of course, on their side, if she was in the press she would cause even more problems for them.

After all, this was her when she was only mildly annoyed. They had pushed her too far, and she no longer cared about respecting their choices if it meant she had to sacrifice her comfort and ease of living.

They had their perfect son, Seungkwan already; his idol career should be enough for them to leave her alone, at least for a few years, so long as he was successful enough; her parents only really cared about success, she had learned.

So she could finish school, despite her complete lack of interest in it; it was nothing but a distraction, an excuse to keep her parents off her back.

She wasn't interested in leading the life her family led. She wasn't interested in all the fancy complications of their daily life; she was a private person, and she wanted to avoid having people follow her around and research her until they found dirt.

And they would find dirt. Her entire life was made up of dirt that her parents worked so hard to hide. It was something that put a real stresser on their relationship.

It wasn't the proper, respectable Korean way, but YeongMi had no respect for her parents. They were okay people in general, but their idea of family was fake smiles, suffocating expectations, crippling intentions, and recorded events.

Since she was an infant, YeongMi had spent every day being filmed. Her parents followers evidently loved to see their intimate life, so her early years were made up of a TV show broadcasting her every move. Every mistake. Every embarrassment.
