I finally figured out why Melchizedek was so important, he is the high priest for the new covenant. God had the Levites for the old covenant, and He needed a priest for the new covenant. I am thinking about Abraham, Aaron (Abraham's brother), and Lot (Abraham's nephew) in relation to Melchizedek, if any at all.
The reason I think Melchizedek appeared to Abraham in Genesis was to foreshadow that this was going to happen - Melchizedek was paving the way for an unchangeable priesthood. I still don't know who Melchizedek was or is.
I think God could have created Melchizedek for the purpose of allowing His Son to be the High Priest of God - to explain why a new priest is needed. Melchizedek didn't have a mother or a father, and he was made like the Son Of God. It is a great mystery of the Bible.
I want to write down my three new additions to my bathroom mirror -Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Hebrews 11:1But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Hebrews 11:6make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
Hebrews 13:21Lots of great information about people and their faith in Hebrews chapter 11. God wouldn't let me go on until I had written these down, and explained about Melchizedek. I tried to find a verse(s) 7 or 8 times and no heat on the pages, none whatsoever. This is the first time that this has happened.
I will have to see what happens tomorrow; I may be finished. I am on 2 Peter in the Bible, so I am getting close to finishing. I really love Hebrews 13:21 as well - I might use that to close from now on, if He wants me to continue.
Make sure to tell God that you love Him.The LORD bless you and keep you;
The LORD make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
The LORD lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.Love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. Please read your Bible.
