I heard, on the radio, that so and so donated fifty bucks for prayer to help a medical condition. So and so wasn't the only one, there was an endless list. Oh, I listened for a while, not knowing whom to feel sorry for - the people asking for prayer requests or the pastor and his program.
I won't mention the pastor's name, but he is very knowledgeable of the Bible and very misguided. The people that send the money are also foolish. Money changes everything. People requesting prayer is great, but why couple that with their donation.
How do you help ignorant people? (See note) You educate them - Bear Bryant said that. Well, ignorance is a lack of knowledge, it doesn't mean you are stupid. So, I am gonna let you in on a little secret - God is all around you.So then faith cometh by the hearing and hearing by the word of God.
Romans 10:17
I started reading the Bible and behaving myself. I don't care what your addiction is, you have to make a commitment to God, first. Once I did, then I realized He was around, and I didn't want to disappoint Him. Before this, I could have paid any amount of money and nothing would change - because I have asked God for things in the past.
In a sense, you are asking someone else to make a commitment for you, and God doesn't like that. Let God control your life, and read the first five books of the Bible, then see what happens. Don't battle your addiction, but rather let God do it.
If you battle your addiction, then you always know it's there - don't acknowledge it. I transferred it to God, because I said that I don't want to disappoint Him. I want to find ways to please Him. God loves you and will be there for you, but He will be disappointed if you are sinning. Your whole existence on earth is because of God. He made you and He loves you - tell Him you love Him back.Note - I shouldn't have said the people are ignorant; they just need help. I don't understand why they can't directly ask God for help. People of the ministry don't have any special powers, everything comes from God Himself! Remember what Jesus told the woman that touched the edge of His garment? He told her that her faith had made her well. It seemed like people were paying for God's help. Does it mean the more money you give the more help you will get? God and money doesn't make sense to me. Jesus made Himself poor so we can become rich.
The LORD bless you and keep you;
The LORD make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
The LORD lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.Love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. Please read your Bible.
