O LORD, how great are Your
          works!
     Your thoughts are very deep.
                     Psalm 95:5

This verse is such an understatement - there is no possible way to measure God's thoughts. I will to try to explain this verse which led to extensive research -

    "He shall pass through the
           sea with affliction,
And strike the waves of the
           sea;
All the depths of the (Nile)
          River shall dry up.
     Then the pride of Assyria.
          shall be brought down.
     And the scepter of Egypt
          shall depart.

"So I will strengthen them in.
           the LORD,
And they shall walk up and
          down in name,"
     Says the LORD.
              Zechariah 10:11,12

I included the second verse to show you that the LORD was speaking. I had to find out who the "He" was, and I got Israel and God. The "He" is Israel, but I had to find these verses -

"Then you shall say to Pharaoh, 'Thus says the LORD: "Israel is My son, My firstborn.
"So I say to you, let My son go that he may serve Me. But if you refuse to let him go, indeed I will kill your son, your firstborn." ' "
              Exodus 4:22,23

This happened in the eighth month of the second year of Darius. I googled a map of the Assyrian Empire 900-607 BC, and they controlled a lot of land. King Darius reigned from 522 BC to 486 BC. I need time references to help me understand.
I think it is interesting that my research led back to God's wondrous miracles He did in Egypt. Getting back to the verse, I think the pride of Assyria is just that - their pride. The map I saw did include Babylon as part of Assyria, but the Jews are rebuilding the temple. I just found out that the second temple was completed in 587 BC.

Note - Sorry, I forgot to explain the sticky notes; I know you figured it out any way😀.  I use them to takes notes and as bookmarks.
