It was February 1st and Ginny, Ritchie and I were planning on going into Hogsmead together. I had been avoiding going these past few weeks since I knew Draco went but the first Apparition lessons was today and I knew almost all of the sixth years would be going for their licence.
"When will this snow ever end?" I complained, it was the last month of winter and Ginny had advised me that sometimes the coldest days are in February, great now that was definitely something to look forward too...NOT!
"Soon" Was her reply, she had been so gloomy about Harry lately. "Come on Ginny we need to get you over this depression you seem to have fallen into" I complained and Ginny laughed "I'm not depressed" she groaned and I laughed. "Yeah you are" I said dragging her down to breakfast.
We sat at our table and I nearly cried when she chose the spot near Harry on the Slytherin side of the table, right behind Draco Malfoy. Gone were my weeks of successful dodging and hiding and avoiding. They just came crashing down. I looked around desperate for somewhere else to sit but there was nothing available with anybody that I knew.
With a sigh I sat down and pulled some food onto my plate, Ginny joined the conversation between Harry, Ron and Hermione while I hoped and prayed Draco wouldn't notice I was sitting right behind him. I should have known better.
"You've been avoiding me" Draco stated and I nearly groaned out loud. "What? Me? No, Never" I stuttered out and nearly cried at how weak and pathetic I sounded. "You're a terrible liar" Draco laughed and I cringed.
"Umm I'm not lying" I said so pathetically not even a deaf person would have believed me. "But I do need to go, see ya" I said before speed walking out of the great hall towards my common room, I really should think before I do things. Hiding out in my common room sounded great but I didn't think of the fact that I had to walk to get there, or just how far the walk was or how easily it would be for Draco to get up and follow me, and I left Ginny behind.
"Hold up" Draco said as he grabbed my arm gently and dragged me down a deserted corridor. I squeaked but followed. "Why are you avoiding me?" Draco asked and I sighed. "I'm not avoiding you Draco" I told him weakly and cringed at how I sounded. "Yeah you are" he said sternly and I sighed leaning back against the wall.
"Why?" he asked as he took a step towards me, trapping me between him and the wall. I couldn't answer him or even look at him so I stared at the ground. "Look at me" Draco said softly, taking a step further and tipping my chin up with his fingers softly when I didn't.
He was pressed up against me entirely and I couldn't help the giddy feeling sitting in my stomach, but I still couldn't look at him. "Sarah" he said my name so gently and softly I caved. "I didn't want you to think I was weak" I whispered softly still keeping my eyes away from his face.
"Why would I think you were weak?" Draco asked gently. "Because of what happened in the library" I confessed sadly. "Look at me" Draco instructed and reluctantly I lifted my eyes to his and was amazed at what I saw. "I could never think you are weak" Draco said strongly. His eyes dropped from my own for a moment before returning "Stop avoiding me" he whispered before stepping back and walking away.
"Have fun today" he called behind him and I stayed in the same position for what felt like forever. I couldn't deny it anymore, I had a crush on Draco Malfoy...what the hell was I going to do?!?
I didn't see Draco again until Dinner he sat opposite me at the Slytherin table and I couldn't help but shoot him glances throughout the meal, Ginny and Ritchie noticed. "Somebody's in love" Ritchie teased and instead of some witty reply I simply blushed and hung my head.
