Chapter 45

"So will you be going to lunch or to visit Ritchie?" Harry asked as we were packing up our desks once Charms class ended. "Umm neither" I said vaguely making my way towards the door. "What do you mean?" Harry asked with a worried look on his face.

"I get that we have a lot to talk about Harry" I said as exited the class room. "But I just need to be alone to process" I told him before heading off towards the common room, today had been exceedingly long and emotional, honestly I just needed to rest.

"Let it go for now Harry" I heard Ron say as I walked to the common room, thankfully alone. History of Magic would be my next class of the day and while I knew I would need to eat I wasn't in the mood to face anyone. "Ginny" I said shocked at finding her lying face down on her bed once I walked into out room. "What are you doing here?" I asked moving to sit on my bed.

"Same as you probably" Ginny said moving to sit up on her bed to look at me "Hiding away from everyone" Ginny added getting comfortable after shooting a small smile my way. "Snape?" I questioned and she nodded knowing what I was referencing to. "I can't believe he did that" I confessed moving to pat Topaz who had woken up and moved down to rest next to me on the bed.

"Nothing that git does surprises me anymore" Ginny said bitterly and I started to nod before remembering what had happened in class earlier. "I was pretty surprised he let us leave class early, he seemed kind of sorry" I said and Ginny nodded "Yeah, maybe he does have a heart" she said and I smiled.

"Do you want to talk about it?" I asked and Ginny shook her head "Do you?" She asked and I shook my head no as well. "History of magic next" Ginny commented and I nodded while stroking Topaz. "Maybe we should sneak some food from the great hall and head down" Ginny suggested and I nodded. "Sounds good" I said standing and grabbing the books I would need for the afternoon and shoving them into my bag.

We didn't speak on the way down and I let my mind drift to all the things that had happened. Ritchie was unconscious in the medical wing, Snape had forced me to relive watching my sister die, and I had just found out the Peter Pettigrew was probably the person responsible for 'You know who' discovering me and having my family killed. Suddenly I was even less hungry than before.

"I might just meet you at class Ginny" I said gently grabbing her wrist as we neared the great hall "Not feeling really hungry" I added. "Okay, meet you there" Ginny said with a small smile before heading in while I headed towards the classroom. Except suddenly class was the last place I wanted to be.

Without a second through I walked straight past the classroom and continued wondering around the corridors eventually finding a dark closed off alcove towards the end of one of the corridors to hide out in. dropping my bag to the floor I sat down long ways on the bench leaning against the wall and bringing my knee's up to rest my head on.

My thoughts drifted between Ritchie, Casey and Peter Pettigrew; back and forth, back and forth until eventually I fell asleep.

The sounds of students soon filled the corridor waking me up but I didn't dare move from my spot. I should have been heading down to Herbology, Ritchie was my partner in that class now, ever since Romilda had set the green house on fire and Professor Sprout has insisted upon a change of partners.

But Ritchie was in the hospital unconscious and the thought of sitting through an entire lesson without him had me feeling sick. He never should have had a head injury in the first place, it should have been me. The troll had been going for me, Ritchie saved me and because of that he was hurt.

He should never have been in detention either, interfering to make sure I didn't get hurt during duelling. I had to be the worst thing to ever happen to him, maybe I was cursed.
