"Hey, how long did McGonagall keep you and Ginny out to last night?" Seamus asked as we were standing outside the Transfiguration classroom later on that day. I spent my free class sitting in the hospital wing with a still unconscious Ritchie.
My body was aching and I was desperate to go to bed but knew that if I did than I wouldn't be up again in time for class and there was no way I would even dream of missing McGonagall's class if I wanted to play on Sunday.
"Looked like she really had it in for the two of you" Dean added as we stood together. "Looked pretty brutal" Seamus added and I laughed noticing Harry standing with Hermione and Ron while Blaise stood with his Slytherin buddies – neither of which I was talking too right now.
"I don't think brutal covers it really, I don't have a single muscle that isn't in pain today" I commented blocking out the looks Harry and Blaise kept sending me. "How many laps around the pitch did you have to do?" Dean asked curiously.
"Umm like four or five I think" I said trying to remember exactly how many. "It was six actually" McGonagall stated dryly from the door way before gesturing for everyone to enter the room. "And I think I might have the rest of the team join you tonight" McGonagall said to the three of us waiting for everybody to take their seats with Seamus and Dean groaning at McGonagall's announcement.
"In fact I have been speaking with Professor Snape and we both agree that the quidditch teams are not taking their personal fitness as seriously as they should be" McGonagall said with a twinkle in her eye that had most of the students shifting worriedly in our seats.
"Which is why we have decided to join the Slytherin and Gryffindor teams tonight for some basic training" McGonagall said with delight. "That includes all players, injured or otherwise" She added and Ron and Harry both groaned now knowing that they would have to participate.
"How bad could it be?" Blaise said confidently from the Slytherin side of the room. McGonagall didn't answer, instead she moved on to explaining the 'Avis' charm and how it differed from the conjuring we had been doing previously.
I repressed a chuckle knowing that Blaise would be eating those words later. How bad could it be? Very, very bad!
***Flashforward***
As soon as class ended all the quidditch players were sent with instructions to round up the rest of our teams and be down and ready for basic training by six. That gave us just enough time to have a light dinner after getting changed and organising the rest of the team.
Ginny, Brendan, Seamus, Jimmy, Dean, Harry, Ron, Ann-Marie and myself were all present for Gryffindor while for Slytherin Draco, Blaise, Crabbe, Goyle, Harper, Flint, Vaisey, Stevens and Graham were all present.
"Now I hope you realise that I have made a bet with Professor Snape that you would beat his team tonight" McGonagall said to us as we were off to the side having our little huddle before our basic training began. "So do not let me down" She added leading us back to the middle of the pitch to start warming up and stretching.
"You will not be defeated" Snape was threatening his team as they made their way over to us. "Don't worry Professor, we have this in the bag" Vasiey said smugly glancing at us. "They don't stand a chance with three girls on their team" Steven's added high fiving his friend.
"Did he just say we aren't a threat?" Ann-Marie whispered to Ginny and I and we both nodded shocked and angry. "I wouldn't underestimate them if I were you" Snape drawled in that lazy way of his that you couldn't decide if he was supressing a chuckle or his desire to strangle you.
