The Other Potter

Chapter 3

I walked into the great hall the next morning and took a seat next to Neville, I liked Neville the most besides Ginny. I had seated myself directly behind Draco who was busy tormenting Neville.

"That's mean; does picking on Neville really make you feel better about yourself Draco?" I asked as I turned to look at him.

"What? I was just pointing out that Neville here probably hasn't even had a kiss yet and it's already his sixth year" Draco and his friends laughed Causing me to frown.

"Why do you care so much about Neville kissing anybody, do you want to kiss him" I asked Draco in a serious voice which caused some nearby Gryffindor's to laugh and caused Draco to stop laughing.

"What? No I don't want to kiss Longbottom" he said in disgust "well than I don't see why his love life has anything to do with you, honestly Draco one would think you actually cared about him the way your carrying on about it" with that I turned back around and continued on with my breakfast enjoying the fact that I had successfully put him in his place.

I spent breakfast talking with Neville, Seamus and Dean about random things. Jimmy came in late and quickly sat beside me shuffling bacon and eggs into his mouth while quizzing me on what Charms I had started on back in Australia, he wanted to be prepared for class.

I had a feeling we would be working on the Silencing charm so I gave Jimmy a few pointers and suffered through Draco and his friend Blaise giving me a long speech about being a cheater since I already knew the fifth year work.

The Bell rang for class to begin and I walked to Charms with Jimmy, Ginny and Ritchie. I was fast becoming friends with all three of them.

I was right, we were learning the silencing charm and after I successfully demonstrated the spell Professor Flitwick asked me to help him help the other students get it.

I was working with two of the nicer Slytherin girls, Flora and Hestia. They were nice and we chatted a bit about random things. I liked the matching bracelets they wore; I mentioned that I used to have something similar with my sister but that it, like everything else in my room had been destroyed by the death eaters.

After I taught them both the charms to both silence and unsilence a person I left them practising on each other and moved on to the other three Slytherin girls, Astoria, Bridget and Rachel, they were less kind.

Rachel it seemed was hopeless at charms and couldn't even master the wrist movement, Astoria was better, she silenced me and the three girls laughed while I couldn't speak.

Jimmy came to my rescue, I was grateful for giving him those pointers over breakfast I left Astoria to help her friends but didn't even bother teaching her the unsilencing spell, let them all walk around mute serves them right. I spent the rest of the lesson working with the Gryffindor students but mostly I chatted with Jimmy and Colin who had mastered both spells already.

Colin was excitedly telling me that we had begun working with Fanged Geranium in Herbology and I mentioned that we had worked on the same plant at my old school as I showed them the scar on my hand from when I had been bitten.

Just before the end of class professor Flitwick called me to the front to speak with him. "Wonderful work with today's work, I have spoken with your head of house and she has given me permission to assess the spells in which you learned at your previous school and work out new lesson plans for you" the professor spoke excitedly.

"That's great professor" I said happy, I demonstrated the charms I had learned and he was very impressed.

"Extraordinary" the professor clapped and praised. He was especially happy when I changed the colour of the ceiling purple. "I will be writing to the ministry tonight and asking to sit you for your O.W.L's I want to start you on the sixth year work right away" The professor was so excited.
