Chapter 8: The Good Girl's Promise

My heart instantly fell when Ryder closed the door with a silent thud behind me. I ached to scatter and run out that door. My insides screamed to run but I knew I was stuck here. Like a fly in a freaking spider web. The spider being Ryder Williams.
The resemblance between him and a spider didn't differ. They looked and acted the same. I pulled my bag further onto my shoulder. My hands trembled slightly at the unknown. I was too deep in thought to notice the mansion in front of my eyes.
The entire house was polished white with dark wood. The floors were a dark wood that didn't seem to have one splinter in it. Ten feet in front of the doorway is a huge staircase that wound around in a large spiral up into the unknown. The steps appeared to me floating in mid air and not one smudge appeared on the polished white steps. As if, no one lives here or even used these steps before. To my left was a wide frame doorway that let into a living room with normal plush furniture and a large screen TV. To the right was another doorway that led to a kitchen.
If you could call it a kitchen. It was twice the size of any kitchen I've ever seen. It feels like the breath was knocked out of me as the beauty of the house seeped in through my skin. Ryder came up closer behind me and said quietly,"Impressed?"
I nod and smirk,"This house has more charm than you've had in your entire life."
He scoffs and runs a hand through his brown hair. Just then Adrienne came skipping down the stairs. Her blonde hair was flounced into a messy bun that looked so natural. While mine hasn't even been washed since practice. I should've taken a shower before I came here.
Adrienne jumped into my arms which were currently holding my bag. She squeezed the life out of as she said,"I'm so happy your here! I missed you so much!"
My bag dropped to the ground and I heard something fall out my bag. I was about to look at see what fell out of my bag when Adrienne made it impossible for me to breath. I gasped,"Adrienne I-I can't breath."
Out of the corner of my eye I see Ryder bend down and grab something before he stands and shouts,"Adrienne let go of my Kimbean before you kill her!"
The long arms unwrap from my small frame before I catch my breath. I gasp,"Adrienne I was only gone for not even a half an hour. Our you seriously that lonely?"
