KIMBERLY •

The rest of that night, I couldn't move.

Ryder stayed next to me, partly because I needed him there and the other being that my hand was clasped tightly to his, never letting him go. He didn't object, he didn't say anything. Instead, he held me to him as we both stared blankly at the information right in front of our faces.

I didn't get any sleep that night, and neither did Ryder. We just stayed there trying to process the information and connections that seemed too real right now.

That's because it is real you damn idiot, my mind scolded me.

I couldn't fathom the reality that my brother has still been lying to me. That he has been doing drugs. He started this, and our parents, Adrienne's dog were killed for it. Adrienne was shot for it. I broke my wrist for it, and we got pushed off of a bridge for this...for drugs. That's why Andrew stole from the bank, that's why he has been so stressed out.

That's why he smelled like....drugs. I couldn't place the smell before, usually because he had cologne or alcohol lacing his breath.

My good, loving brother that was my leaning and steady rock, has been lying to me for longer than our parent's deaths.

These thoughts were pounding against the base of my skull, causing arcs of pain to travel a crossed my forehead. It wasn't until I heard birds chirping from outside my window and the faint glimpse of sunlight falling a crossed my floor, did I look away from the ceiling and at Ryder.

The only one that has told me the whole truth.

His tired eyes caught mine as he smiled somewhat sadly. His fingertips rubbed against my thumb and up my forearm to the top of my elbow. Flickering sensations flashed through my body at the small brief touch of his skin.

"How are you feeling, Princess?" Ryder asked, even though he didn't sleep, he still had the deep rumbling morning voice that chilled me to my toes.

I didn't even have to think about it before I responded.

"Horrible," I muttered.
