Dani's POV

I groaned as I went through the clothes in my closet once again.

"Mom!" I yelled. "I have nothing to wear!"

"Just throw something together!" she yelled from her room.

"Ugh!" I screamed.

"Honey, since when do you like wearing nice clothes?!"

"Since I met Lizzy! She dresses so nice!" I yell back.

I finally settle on a red dress Lizzy helped me buy. It fits me in all the right places and for once in my life, I look curvy. It feels weird to act like, a girl. I grab a leather jacket and strap on some heels.

I'm fixing my eyeliner when I hear the familiar ring on my computer.

Abby again? I groan and sit in my chair to answer

"So when are you going to get here?" she says while sitting on her bed, tugging at her curls.

'For what?" I answer.

"Kaitlin's surprise party!" exclaims Abby. "You said you were going to be there"

"Oh that!" I say. "Yeah, I can't make it. I already confirmed going to Lizzy's Christmas party"

"We've been planning this for weeks!" she complains.

"I'm sorry!" I say. "But you're the one who told me to open up" I get out of my chair and open up my closet.

"Look I need to get my bag" I say.

"You've been ditching us a lot lately" says Abby.

"I'm breaking out of my shell" I say and put on my lipstick. "Can't help if I break a few hearts along the way"

"Do you even hear what you're saying right now?" says Abby.

"Whatever" I say and Abby scoffs.

"Dani!" yells Alysha from downstairs. "Will's here!"

"Ou!" I wink at Abby.

"Will? who's Will?" she asks.

"He's my boyfriend" I giggle.

"What?" she exclaims.

"Well, not yet" I clarify. "But it's coming. We text all the time and he thinks I'm hilarious"

"How lovely" groans Abby.

"Dani!' yells Alysha.

"Bye" says Abby dryly and shutting off her computer. Whatever.

I shrug and head down the stairs. Will is waiting for me at the bottom of the stairs in his suit.

He smiles when we lock eyes.

"You look beautiful" he says and gives me his hand. I walk down the final step with him guiding me.

"Don't even think about it" my Dad hisses in his ear. "I'm a cop"

I laugh and Will looks nervous. "We'll be home by ten sir" he answers and takes me out the door.

The party went okay I guess, everyone was talking about things I didn't really understand. I spent the whole night silent and on Will's arm.

I wonder what Abby, Kaitlin and our other friends are doing. Probably watching a movie and eating chips. I'd rather be doing that then standing around with Will and laughing at these awful jokes. But I have to be popular, this is my only chance.

I sigh. Even if it means leaving everyone behind.
