Jeremy's POV
I got the hell out of the pep rally as fast as I could. Not because it was over, or that I didn't want to sit with Charlie any longer ( I didn't), but because I had to find out what was wrong with Dani. She had just up and left after it was announced that Abby was running for Prime Minister.
I walked straight out of the gym, with no idea as to where she could possibly be. That's when I saw a figure slip into the girl's washroom.
"Dani?" I hiss. No reply.
"Dani!' I repeat, standing in front of the door and knocking.
"Leave me alone Jeremy."
"Not gonna happen."
She groans.
"Come out." I coax. "We can go find somewhere private to talk."
"No."
"Well then I'm coming in." I tell her.
"I know you Jeremy, you're not coming into a girl's bathroom."
"Guess you don't know me all that well then." I respond. Taking a deep breath, I push through the door, silently praying that nobody comes in.
I find Dani sitting on the floor right beside the door, hugging her knees.
"I'm surprised by this sudden burst of confidence." she states without looking up. I take a seat beside her.
"Why? I'm absolutely overflowing with confidence." I joke, stretching out my legs. I don't understand what the whole stigma of opposite sex bathroom; they're literally the exact same. Same dirty mirror, red stalls and cement walls.
"Am I a horrible person Jeremy?" Dani asks suddenly.
"What makes you say that?" I ask.
"Well, I'm hiding in the bathroom because my ex best friend just got nominated for school Prime Minister, and I don't know how to deal with it. I'm also the person that got popular without her and now I'm uncomfortable with her success."
I purse my lips. "You're not a horrible person per say, just...misguided."
"Misguided?" she asks.
"Yeah. You've just made some bad decisions." I take her hand, linking our fingers together. She smiles with just the corner of her mouth.
"Jeremy, why are you so sweet to me?" Dani leans her head against the wall. I let go of her hand.
"Well, who else is gonna be?" I ask, she shrugs.
"Will, supposedly."
I don't respond. There are a lot of things I'd like to say about Will, but I doubt there's anything she'd like hear.
"We should go." Dani says, standing up. I nod in response.

"Do you want to go out after school? Maybe to the mall or something?" I ask. Dani smiles, I feel like something just melted in my rib cage, but she always makes me feel like that.
"I would-" Dani's cut off by Will, who jogs up to her. He's sweaty, and wearing the Red Devils football uniform.
"We have to talk." he says, she looks at him, then glances at me pointedly.
"Oh right. I'll just be over here then." I say, pointing to the left. I step back but stay within ear shot.
"So did you just have gym or...?" Dani asks Will. He nods, panting slightly.
"Yeah, but I had to come see you, there's something I have to do, I couldn't wait until the end of the day." he tells her. He reaches into his shorts pocket. I try to ignore them, I really do, but I couldn't help glancing over my shoulder, and notice he's holding a ring.
What the hell?!
"I know it's not much, but as I said this morning, I love you Dani. And this ring, is a promise. A promise that someday, with your consent, I'll marry you."
I think I'm gonna be sick. Someone, please stop this train wreck.
Dani looks just as shocked as I am.
"Will....." she stutters. "I don't know what to say."
"You could say 'Yes Will of course I'll accept the ring. I love you too.'"
Now I'm really going to puke. Dani's hands start to shake as he lifts her finger and places the ring on it. On the right hand.
Dani glances at me, I pretend I'm reading the poster on the wall. Yep, not paying attention at all. I'm certainly not eavesdropping.
"Will, this is really sudden." she says and he nods.
"Yeah I know, but I mean you're the only person I could ever picture myself being with Dani. It's our last two years of school together, so I just thought that..."
She cuts him off, I watch her fiddle with the ring on her finger.
"Will, I'm not even sixteen, this is really fast."
"We've been together two years." he suggests weakly as she looks down, her hair in her face. I can see the discontentment in his face.
"What does age matter when you're in love?"
Can he get any cheesier? Or sound more like a pedophile?
"That sounds creepy Will, and age really matters Will, we're really young."
"And in love."
Because remember, age is just a number.
He takes both her hands. "What do you say Dani?" She looks down again.
"No." I'm floored.A/N: here's a small update, more to come soon!
