"Dani's POV
"Do I have to Mom?" I whined and she narrowed her eyes at me from the counter.
"Yes, the poor boy has no friends and you've got some to spare. His mother was telling me he was eating alone at lunch yesterday" I am not telling her where I eat at lunch.
"But Mom! He's geeky!" I whined and she waved the spoon in my face. "I don't care!" she said firmly. "You're going to at least talk to him"
"Do I have too?" I whined again as I sat at the table, doing my homework. I still care about my grades, a little.
"Yes!" she almost yelled. I grumbled and tucked the chair in. "Fine!" I threw my hands in the air and stomped through the kitchen headed for the front door. I sat on the stairs and pulled on my dark red converse over my skinny jeans and jean jacket. Even though it's next door, I put my earphones in my new iPhone I bought with my camp money. Did I mention my Mom forced Alysha and I to work at a camp this summer? When I was grounded. My counselor name was "Dash" and I had to work with the special needs kids.
I didn't mind really, it was okay. It was just hard when this little boy told me he loved me and would hold onto my arm for dear life. It was very annoying, but the phone was worth it.
Anyways, I find myself grumbling as I walk down the curb. I absolutely refuse to walk on their lawn, maybe because I had a neighbour (before Jeremy moved in) who would freak out and threaten to call the cops if we took one step on his lawn. Except my Dad is a cop, so I don't really think he understood the irony, or knew my Dad's a cop.
I strolled up the front driveway, which had one car in the driveway. Just a small minivan, enough to fit seven people maximum. My gum bubble pops when I ring the doorbell, and hear my phone go off at the same time. I decide to ignore it, and the door opens to Jeremy. In a plaid red and blue shirt, his short jeans and thick glasses.
"What are you doing here?" he asks."More food to drop off?"
"No" I sigh and roll my eyes at him. "My Mom sent me to hang out with you, since you don't really talk to anyone at school"
"For good reason" he adds and I roll my eyes again, knowing nothing would please my Father more then seeing me walk around with a guy like this in place of Will. I tug on the stiff sleeve of his ugly shirt.
"Lets go" I say and he gives me an odd look."Where? Smoking weed with your friends?"
"It was one time, and I didn't smoke it with them. Grab your jacket lets go" he walks back into the house, shouting. "Funny the cop's daughter is caught with kids smoking illegal drugs"
"Keep your voice down!" I hiss at him and he grumbles. I take the opportunity to check my phone, and I find out I have a text from Will.
-Hey baby, we're going to the mall. See you there?
I don't think I'll be able to make it, Mom's crazy strict right now. I'll see you later? <3
-Sure
I'm a little hurt that he didn't send back a heart as well, but I ignore it as insecurity and stuff my hands in my pockets. I open the jacket and look at Jeremy."Ready to go?" I ask and he shrugs.
"Ready as I'll ever be" he says and I grin."Sure thing sweetheart let's go"
I hop down his front steps, like I did the last time I was here and watch him follow me.
"Where are we going?" he asks.
"Where do you want to go? We could head to places you probably haven't seen since you moved here or something"
