Mel's POV
"Look Eileen I already said I was sorry what else do you want from me?" I ask and Eileen folds her arms at me.
"Gee Mel, I don't know, how about inviting me next time?" She yells. I take a step backward and Eileen moves closer. We're in the living room at her house, and were hanging out before the argument.
"Well what else was I supposed to do? She said you weren't invited when I asked!" I tell her, and instantly cover my mouth. I should not have said that. I really should not have said that.
She gapes. "What?" Gah, why did I even let the whole thing about the party slip in the first place?
"And you went anyway? Even though you knew I wasn't invited?" She questions, sounding like she's on the brink of tears."I'm sorry Eileen, it was just one party. I just wanted to be cool for once! And have everyone like me, it was amazing." I say wistfully.
" Don't give me that sappy movie line bull shit Mel. I get it's nice to be cool for once butJason could join in that with you and not me? Your best friend?"
"I'm really sorry." I say.
"I know you are." She sighs. "It's just that I thought we agreed we weren't going to let High School get to us."
"I promise it won't again, I know who my real friends are."

Jason's POV
Apparently the rookie list is a tradition at Stonewall High. I've already completed a few tasks this week, like vacuuming the teachers parking lot (that got me a lot stares), cleaning the senior football teams gym lockers with my toothbrush and then brushing my teeth with it (I bought myself a new tooth brush after and brushed my teeth at least ten times). I handwashed every senior jersey, and jock strap. I also answered ten questions correctly in ten seconds before a zip lock bag full of pee was dropped on my head. I was a human pinata, once there were enough bruises they let me down. I did a dramatic reading of Taylor's Swifts you belong with me for the grade nine girls gym class (which Mel AND Eileen were in). I've yet to make the math hallway pink, serenade Mel, and run the track in my underwear.
Taking a deep breath, I stand in the hallway leading to our cafeteria. Lunch is almost halfway over, and staying out here where there's less people will definetly help me boost my confidence.
"You got the song ready to go?" I ask Todd, he nods holding a boombox up on his shoulders.
"We're all set, don't wimp out man."
I shake my hands, and hold the microphone in my hands. Lucky for me I was able to pursue the tech crew to help me out.
I take a few steps up to the sitting area, and Todd presses play. People start to look up, searching for the source of the noise.
Here we go.
"L is for the way you look at me." I sing, a lot more people look up. Oh man. I saunter up to Mel, and caress her face. Mel laughs along with the rest of the students in the cafeteria. I continue to sing, winking at her and swaying.
"O is for the only thing I see. V is very very extraordinairy, E is anymore then anyone that you adore can love is all that I can give to you, love is more then just a game for two. Two in love can make it, take my heart and please don't break it, love was made for me and you..." I trail off at the end, preparing for the next verse when Mr Dickens walks up to me, his finger pointed at me.
"You!" He yells, I jump and tear down the cafeteria, knocing over a food tray in my way and dragging Todd with me. We sprint through the hallways, looking for a safe haven.
I continue to sing as I run. "L is for the way you look at me! O is for the only one I see! V is very very, extra ordinairy, E is even more then anyone that you adore!" I'm practically screaming, Todd runs into a math class and I follow him.
We high five and each take a seat on the desks at the back of the class. "What's left on the list?" He pants. I pull the list out of my pocket.
"Run the track naked, and make the math hallway pink" I read, Todd nodds. Suddenly the door flings open, and a very sweaty principal Dickens points at us, "You two! My office, now!"
"Yes sir" We both groan and follow him down the hall.

Mel's POV
"Jason's a legend now." Eileen says out of the blue. We both went to the library, hoping to find books on our upcoming report for science, no internet allowed. I continue to browse through the shelves.
"Yeah, I guess so." I shrug, he's still Jason to me. As corny as that sounds.
"So you're dating one of the most popular guys in the ninth grade, and the only response from you is a non-chalant shrug? Who does that?" I look at her, she's got her hands on her hips and I shrug again. I notice her tense at the gesture, and I laugh.
"What's up next on his list?" She asks, "And how much trouble did he get in for the cafeteria shenanigans?"
"He got a week's worht of detention, and he's going to make the math hallway pink." I tell her. "But don't spread that around, these are top secret football rituals."
"Yeah I won't tell," Eileen assures me. "After all he's made it this far, I wouldn't want to hinder his success."
A/N: Hey guys! Sorry I haven't posted in a while, I've been super busy with exams and other stuff. Here's a short little update, I'll post a D&J update later I promise!
