Dani's POV
I jog to get to lacrosse training.
"Hey guys" I say as I enter the gym, the other girls stare at me.
What?
Everyone goes back to normal conversation. I walk up to Cassie.
"Hey what's going on?" I ask, she just stares blankly at me. Okay?
I walk up to a good a friend of mine named Breanna.
"Why isn't anyone talking to me?" I whisper to her. She looks uncomfortable. Maybe she can tell me what's happening right now.
"We heard you've gone soft." she hisses.
"What?" I exclaim. Everyone stares again.
"Mind your business!" I yell at them, they shrug and continue tier conversation.
I look at Breanna, asking for help. She pulls me aside.
"Look, they heard you tried out for the play, and you talk to Jeremy Sawyer."
"So?" I question, I can't believe this. "My mom made me try out, and Jeremy's nice, why wouldn't I talk to him?"
"Well I don't know!" She fires back. "Jeremy seems okay, and sucks about auditioning."
"Yeah." I mutter.
Coach shows up and commands us all to start jogging.
"I just don't get why they would ignore me though."
"It's because you're the lead in the play." says Breanna.
"Really?" I ask sarcastically.
"Whatever, okay! Least I don't hang out with nerds like Jeremy."
"He's not a nerd." I defend, and backhand her arm.
___________
After an hour of jogging, sprinting, stretches. I'm physically and mentally exhausted.
I gather my things in the change room, wave goodbye to Breanna and head outside.
I sling my bag over my shoulder, and walk down the street. I knew if be walking home, but I was hoping Will might come and pick me up.
I take a look around, and bite my lip. I've got a twenty minute walk, and it's going to be dark soon.
At least I'm armed with a lacrosse stick.
I can't help but think about everything that's been going on lately.
With that stupid play, and Lizzy's drugs.
She said one deal, I've made three. Will's done even more....
This is stupid, I shouldn't be doing this.
But I just, don't know what to do.
I'm so lost.
And then there's Abby. I really want to apologize, but I don't know how, or what would happen if I did.
It's Friday, and Lizzy invited me to a party at her place. I don't think I want to go, I'd rather stay home and watch a movie.
I'm still walking past a few shops, when I turn the corner, headed for my neighborhood.
I cross the street, and head up my driveway, swinging my lacrosse stick in my hand like a baton.
I head inside." Honey I'm home!" I yell out toss my bag on the stairs. No reply.
