Jeremy's POV

Candy's house is huge; there must be at least eight bedrooms, and an entire floor just for their kids.

It's the size of half my street combined, and it backs onto the beach.

How awesome is this?

We get the floor their kids had, before they all moved out. It includes bedrooms all with their own space, and bathrooms joining them.

Alysha insists she and Penny share the bigger bathroom, so Dani and I are stuck with the smaller one. Figures, my sister always wants the best of everything.

We all go downstairs, our bags thunking as we walk down the steps. I'm eyeing the banister and Penny smacks me in the back of the head.

"Don't be a dork Germ."

"What?! Come on, like you don't want to slide down this thing. It's huge."

Penny just rolls her eyes. She and Alysha ran off once we get to the bottom, and Dani and I are left alone to stand awkwardly in the centre of the room, a flat screen TV to our right, surrounded by leather couches. On the left wall are the doors to the bedrooms.

"Are you going to tell me what's wrong?"

"There's nothing to tell." she says, taking in the scene. I can't help but notice she refuses to look at me.

"This place is really nice." she comments.

"Don't change the subject."

She huffs and walks off.

"Hey, no! You can't just walk off in the middle of a conversation! Where are you going?" I ask.

"To bed!" she yells, dragging her black suitcase behind her.

An hour later, I'm laying on the bed in my room, wondering what could be bothering Dani so much.

These people really are loaded, this bed is huge and the room looks like it's out of a magazine.

Not that I look at those kinds of magazines.

I hear a shuffling coming from the adjoining bathroom, and Dani shows up in my room in an oversized t-shirt, and a pair of (very short) plaid pajama shorts.

"Hi." she mumbles, staring at the hardwood floor.

"Hi..." I sit up, and that's when I realize I'm not wearing a shirt. I have to resist the urge to pull the blanket up to my neck. She either doesn't notice, or doesn't care as she fiddles with her hands.

"Do you know what time it is?" she asks. I point to the clock on my nightstand and she rolls her eyes.

"Why are you up at midnight?" she asks me and I shrug.

"Thinking."

She shuffles forward.

"Why are you up?" I ask, and she bites her lip.

"I had a nightmare."

"What about?"

"You know I'm not going to tell you."

I shrug. "Your loss. I happen to be an awesome psychiatrist." I lean back, putting my arms behind my head.

She rolls her eyes.

"Why aren't you sleeping in Alysha's room. Isn't that what you do? When you have a nightmare, I mean."

"I don't want to be around Alysha, plus she and Penny are too busy acting like..." She sits down on the end of the bed.
