Sitting in her new room Katherine walked in swaying her hips after too long of watching Layla wallow in self-pity. Sure the original ripper had about 500 year head start on the self-loathing but Katherine herself knew a thing or two about how it felt. "Are you actually going to cry?" Katherine snarled annoyed at the broody vampire.

"I don't see the point in a few tears. They don't change anything Katherine. I'm too far gone." Layla whispered drawing in a breath as she got up to her feet.

"Now I'm not one for grief myself but I cry when I am presented with something traumatic. Please tell me why you aren't crying." Katherine demanded sitting next to her friend pulling her down and pouring a drink for them.

"I did cry. Not for long but I did. What's the point? He's gone. It's like he's daggered. I keep thinking he'd daggered. I just I don't think it's set in. I've seen him daggered multiple times. This does not feel any different." Layla confessed looking into the distance as she drank from her glass sighing.

"I get it after a certain amount of centuries you begin to feel numb to it. Don't dig too much into the self-pity; it's unattractive on a girl your age." Katherine tried to joke nudging Layla who shook her head smirking. A knock at the door came and Katherine went to answer it seeing Elijah there.

"Who were you talking to Katerina?" Elijah asked kissing Katherine softly.

"Your sister is here. Layla, she's been taking Kol's death weirdly." Katherine informed him uncaringly. She'd always care for the vampire who made her who she was from the death of her parents she'd risen and been protected by Layla for 10 years and then Layla was daggered.

"I wish to have a private word with my sister." Elijah informed Katherine walking past her and into the bedroom. His eyes settled on Layla sitting there looking into the fireplace. He walked forward sitting next to her. "Katerina informed me of your current predicament." Elijah sighed.

"And?" Layla snapped.

"I can't say I've ever found solace in revenge and I've known you since you came into this world. You've always been kind. Revenge will only ignite a fire in you, a desire to burn until you consume everything in your sight and even then you'll still feel empty. That is no way to grieve." Elijah commented sternly watching his younger sister.

"And how do you expect me to feel? Or do you expect me to be like everyone else? Not give a damn about the brother I loved and lost?" Layla almost spat looking over at him. He watched his younger sister. She wasn't broken. Just lost. Lost in her own crowded mind.

"No but you are not the only one who lost someone, do not forget that." Elijah tried wrapping his arms around her tightly smoothing down her hair nurturing her like a child. A week later Layla was walking down the street when she saw Elena walking out of the diner. Smirking knowing Katherine never would die some of her hair red. Layla walked forward to where Katherine was with Rebekah and Stefan and Damon.

"Oh look what the garbage man dragged in today." Layla called out putting on a strong front despite the fact she smelt like she bathed in alcohol. They all snapped their heads up to her shocked.

"What are you doing here?" Rebekah snapped. Shrugging she shoved Rebekah over sitting down.

"I was living with my friend Katherine for a while." Layla informed Rebekah with a smirk.

"You and Katherine are friends?" Damon sneered.

"Yes how else do you think she got away from Nik?" Layla rhetorically inquired.

"Hm what are you smiling so big? You know where Elena is?" Damon demanded to know.

"I can give you a hint start looking at the town morgue she's probably dead." Katherine grit through her teeth as Layla smirked over at Stefan and Damon. "Also Rebekah, think of Layla as my big bad body guard, you can't touch me or you'll end up daggered." Katherine threatened Rebekah with a nasty smile.
