A few days later Layla was sitting in a bar drinking when she saw Klaus show up next to her shaken. The two walked back to their house and Klaus began to wake Elijah. Layla stood next to Klaus on the balcony and she sighed over at him. "Talk." She demanded with a sigh.

"I had to kill my father, my real father, he knew about Hope. I wasn't sure if I could trust him." Klaus' voice broke. Layla reached out taking his hand and sighing.

"I know how that is. But never forget Niklaus, you are son of Mikael; you have always been his son. He's instilled hatred and anger in us that only a father could." Layla whispered taking a sip of her drink.

"You always had it easy with Mikael. You got to be loved, he adored you Layla. He taught you how to fight. He never wanted to kill you. Not like he wanted to kill the rest of us." Klaus whispered his voice breaking.

"I wish I got to meet Hope." Layla changed the subject.

"You will one day. I am glad you are back here sister. I have missed you." Klaus admitted with a tight smile.

"I have missed you too Nik. I won't leave, I will give you my first promise to you, I promise forever." Layla shared kindly with an unusual kindness in her eyes. That's when Klaus saw it. He saw the affect Stefan's love had on Layla. Before Stefan Salvatore he'd known her to be ruthless and she'd always exploit what she wanted selfishly. He loved his sister right there. But he'd also been one of the many to fear her. He'd been afraid of the destruction that she intentionally caused. She liked to break her victims. And he had been one of those victims. Everyone but Kol and Fin that had come across her had been one of her victims. Stefan was one of the kinder vampires he'd met regardless of how violent his actions were. He brought out the good in Layla. God he would wish for the day where they broke up to never come but he knew it would. Layla would not be so easily satisfied by a kind and easy relationship. She was more of a thrill seeker than Kol. Stefan was a distraction from her grief that had ended now because Kol was alive.

"And I promise you forever as well sister. You can be sure I will deliver." Klaus assured her with a smile. The two then turned to see Elijah walking forward. Layla met him halfway giving him a quick smile and engulfing him in a hug.

"Granted how our last encounter ended with me saying I was disgusted with you I have missed you Layla." Elijah assured her before moving away and seeing Klaus' fallen face.

"I spent the day with my real father, Esther brought him back from the dead believing he could convince me to renounce vampirism. The thought of what I could have been if I had been raised by him I would have been nurtured. This was his." Klaus spoke holding out a book which Elijah opened. "He knew about Hope, and I wanted to trust him more than anything in the world, but I wanted to but ah I couldn't be sure and I could never forgive myself if something happened to her because of my selfish desire for a father. So I killed him without hesitation." Klaus spat his voice numb but his heart in all kinds of pain. "I killed him."

"You killed him for Hope. Whatever innocence remains we must protect it at all costs." Elijah spoke walking closer to Klaus placing a comforting hand on Klaus' shoulder. Layla's eyes met with Klaus' and she nodded to him as a sign of respect. Layla walked out going for a snack as she did so she accidently drained one too many people. The overwhelming guilt stirred in her of what would happen if Stefan were to ever find out. She was content with killing
