Even though Scott had spent the morning with Mitch he was extremely nervous. Scott was currently standing outside of Mitch's house, trying to calm his breathing. He was picking Mitch up for their date. The hardest part had to be getting up the courage to knock on the door.
Scott takes one more deep breath in before finally knocking. It doesn't take long for the door to open and Scott's jaw almost hits the floor. Mitch looked extremely stunning. He was wearing black skinny jeans, a black backless sweater, and black boots.
"You look stunning." Scott compliments.
"Thanks." he smiles. "You don't look too bad yourself either."
After a lot of thinking Scott had decided to wesr blue jeans with ripped knees, a red flannel, and black converse. He had also spent a great amount of time on his hair. For more then ten years Scott had only been with Kayla, he was extremely nervous to be with someone else.
"Should we get going?" Scott asks.
"Sure." Mitch nods. "Where are we even going?"
"It's a surprise." Scott smiles. Mitch fakes a groan and Scott chuckles while opening the car door for him. Once Mitch is inside the car Scott shuts his door and heads towards his own seat. Scott can't help but notice how someone is peaking out from a window in Mitch's house. "I think someone's watching us."
"That would be one of my children." Mitch sighs. "I told them I was going on a date, but I wouldn't say with who. I guess they know now."
"That they do." Scott says. "Oh, well. They would have found out sooner or later, since i'd like this to not be our only date."
Mitch smiles and Scott turns to look at the road. Neither Scott or Mitch say much as Scott drives. The silence isn't awkward though. Their both too excited and nervous to speak. It doesn't take Scott long to reach the park.
"I thought we could have a picnic." Scott smiles. "I know it's not very creative and maybe a little chessy but-"
"Scott, it's perfect." Mitch cuts in. "I don't think I've ever had a real picnic."
"Well, i'm glad that I could help." Scott says. He gets out of his car and then rushes to Mitch's side to open his door.
"You're just too sweet." Mitch chuckles. Scott smiles and opens his truck, pulling a picnic basket from it. Scott grabs Mitch's hand, with his empty one, and leads him towards an empty stretch of grass underneath a tree.
"Just give me one second to set up."
Scott unfolds a blanket and lays it on the grass. He then sits down and pulls Mitch next to him. The next thing Scott does it pull out the food he made.
"I made sure everything was gluten free." Scott smiles. "I remember you telling me you couldn't eat it."
"I can't believe you remembered." Mitch says, blushing slightly. "I told you once at like one in the morning."
"I guess I just have a good memory." Scott shrugs. Mitch smiles and takes one of the sandwiches Scott is holding.
"This looks really good." he says. "Did you make it yourself?"
"Yeah." Scott says. "I'm not a great cook but I try."
Scott and Mitch make jokes and easy conversation as they eat the food Scott prepared. Once they're done eating Scott pulls out a bottle of wine and two plastic glasses.
"Sorry the glasses aren't nicer." Scott says. "I didn't want them to break and glass to get everywhere."
"Scott, these are perfect." Mitch smiles. Mitch found it cute how nervous Scott was, it showed he cared. Scott poors him a glass of wine and then he poors his own. They sip on their wine and stare into each other's eyes. Scott can't help but notice Mitch shiver. It was getting darker and that meant the warm LA temperature was dropping.
"Here, you can wear this." Scott says. He takes his flannel off, leaving him in only a thin white t-shirt.
"I can't." Mitch says. "You'll get cold without it."
"I'll be fine, Mitch." Scott sighs. "Just put the damn flannel on."
Mitch giggles softly and reluctantly puts Scott's flannel on. He does have to admit that it's warm and it smells like Scott's cologne, which is an added bonus. They continue to drink their wine and once they're done they lay back on the blanket. Scott intertwines their hands together and looks at Mitch, while Mitch looks up at the stars.
"It's beautiful out here." Mitch whispers.
"Yeah, it really is." Scott says with a large smile on his face. Mitch turns to look at Scott and laughs.
"You're cheesy, you know that?" Mitch says.
"You know you love it."
"I do." Mitch says. Scott smiles and moves closer to Mitch. He pulls the brunette into his arms and kisses Mitch's temple. "I need to get home soon."
"I know."
"I'm going to fall asleep with you holding me like this." Mitch whines.
"I know."
"I really am going to fall asleep." Mitch says.
"I know, just fall alseep Mitch." Scott chuckles. "I can carry you back to the car and I'll wake you up when we reach your house. I just want a little bit more time with you, please."
"Fine." Mitch giggles, trying to act annoyed. "But only because you asked so nicely."
I doesn't take long for Mitch to fall asleep and Scott keeps his eyes on the beautiful boy in his arms. With moments like this Scott can't help but thinking that maybe this will last.
