---Mitch and his kids had been spending more and more time at Scott's place lately. It was more than big enough for all of them and they just ended up spending the night most of the time. Neither of the parents were going to argue with their kids if they wanted to stay at Scott's place. Both parents were just happy that their kids were getting along and happy about their relationship.
Mitch is in the kitchen making dinner for all of them when Asher entered the room. The older man was in his own little world, making dinner and humming a song Scott had wrote in his free time. When Mitch had learned Scott could sing he had wanted to know more about the hidden talent. It turned out that Scott liked to sing and write songs in his free time. Mitch had then pushed him to find out that he had a bunch of recorded demos no one else had listened to.
They had then spent a good chunk of time going through all of them. At the time the brunette had just been happy that Scott trusted him enough to show him his personal items. It all turned out well because Mitch thought that they were all excellent and had fallen in love with some of them. He just wished that Scott would post or upload the demos somewhere. Mitch knew that pushing the blonde to do it would do no good though.
It takes Mitch a couple more seconds to notices Asher. He's just standing at the doorway looking like he has something to say. Mitch smiles and turns to face him complete. "What's up, buddy?"
"I cut my finger." Asher says, holding out one of his fingers. Mitch holds back a chuckle as he ushers the child over and crouches down to examine his finger. The little boy just had a very small paper cut on his finger with a few drops of blood coming from it.
"Well, if you can be brave for a couple of minutes we can have you patched up in no time." Mitch says, a large smile on his face. "Can you do that for me, Ash?"
"Yeah! I'm really brave!" the little boy exclaims, puffing his chest out slightly. Mitch lets out a small chuckle and picks the little boy up, setting him down on the counter. Asher was definitely a goofball, then again, so was Scott.
"Then this should be nothing for a grown up like yourself." Mitch says, reaching on top of the fridge to grab the first-aid kit. The brunette found it adorable how many first-aid kits Scott had stashed around the house. He figured that Asher must inure himself quite often, or maybe they were for Scott himself. His boyfriend was known to be quite clumsy sometimes.
Mitch takes a bottle of disinfectant and a band-aid from the first aid kit. He was a doctor so putting a band-aid on a seven year old was no big deal. Plus Asher was now committed to proving that he was an adult, so the seven year old was being extremely well behaved. Mitch gently grabs Asher's finger and takes a cotton ball to put disinfectant on the seven year old's finger.
"Now, this might sting a little." Mitch says, using the tone he would use at work. Mitch couldn't help it, he always ended up going back to his doctor roots. He tried not to when he was at home, Mitch just couldn't help it.
Asher nods his head, preparing for the worst. Of course when Mitch dabs the disinfectant on Asher's finger he relaxes. It didn't hurt at all except for a very faint stinging sensation that he only felt because he had been excepting it. Mitch then puts the band-aid on his finger and pits the first aid kit back above the fridge.
"You did really good, buddy." Mitch smiles, ruffling the seven year old's blonde hair. Asher beams at the praise, a large smile that Mitch knows he got from Scott on his face. "So, is there anything else you need before I set you back down?"
"Can I just hangout with you for a little bit?" Asher asks. Mitch smiles, happy that the little boy seems to like him.
"Of course you can!" Mitch says happily. He makes sure to be extra goofy while making the rest of dinner. Mitch had always been really good with younger children, it was the older kids that were a struggle. With younger kids though, all you had to do was spend time with them and they were more than happy. Older kids always seemed to be moody or want alone time, it was confusing as hell even though Mitch had once been a teenager.
Mitch finishes dinner and turns the burner off, a large smile still on his face. Mitch loved spending time with Asher. He had always felt some sort of connection to the little boy.
"Ok, buddy, dinner's ready. Why don't you go tell everyone else and wash your hands?" Mitch suggests. He sets the little boy back on the floor.
"Ok, daddy!" Asher yells, running out of the kitchen. Mitch stands there stunned for a moment, not excepting for the seven year old to have seen Mitch like that. After a few moments of Mitch being completely stunned a small smile appears on his face. Asher had just called him dad, but that wasn't the part leaving Mitch stunned. Mitch had liked it, he finally felt like he belonged. He had an even bigger smile on his face when he starts setting table this time.
