"Thanks for watching him today, Kirst." Scott says, leaning against his car door. He had just dropped Asher of at Kirstie's house. "I really appreciate everything you do for us."

"Don't worry about it, Scott." she says. "Just get through today and make sure that witch of a woman doesn't get Asher."

Today was the trial and Scott couldn't have been more nervous. Kevin had come up with a great case and Mitch was going to meet Scott at the courthouse, it didn't help calm his nerves though. Kirstie had volunteered to watch Asher during the trial. Scott didn't want Asher to witness what would happen. It wasn't garented that Scott could stay calm.

"Good luck, Scotty." Kirstie says, hugging her best friend before heading back into the house. It wasn't a good idea to leave two seven year olds alone for too long. Scott takes a deep breath in before climbing into his car. Scott doesn't even bother turning on his radio, he knows that nothing will be able to clam his nerves.

Once Scott reaches the courthouse he pulls in next to what he recognizes as Mitch's car. The brunette notices Scott pull into the spot next to him and he turns his car off. Mitch hadn't been waiting for his boyfriend to arrive for long.

"Hey, Scotty." Mitch says, getting out of his car and turning to face Scott. Mitch walks over to the blonde and hands him a cup of coffee from Starbucks. "I figured you could use a pick me up today."

"You would be correct." Scott says, happily taking the cup from Mitch's outstretched hand. "I guess we need to head inside so that we're not late."

"We can wait a couple more seconds." Mitch says, getting on the tip of his toes to kiss Scott on the lips. Scott smiles into the sweet kiss and when they pull apart he's smiling for the first time since this whole mess started.

"Thanks, Mitchie." Scott says, taking a hold of Mitch's hand. "I really needed that, I really need you."

"Well, you have me." Mitch says. He pressed one more kiss to Scott's lips before speaking again. "You don't  have to worry though because i'm not going anywhere."

Scott smiles and they head towards the courthouse. Kevin is standing outside of their room when the couple arrives there. Kevin greets them and the three men enter the courtroom, taking their seats. Ten more minutes pass before the judge calls everyone to attention. Scott tries his best to avoid looking at Kayla, he doesn't want to see the woman that's trying to take his son away.

"We'll start this off by calling on Mr. Scott Hoying's lawyer." The judge says. Kevin stands up and starts reciting everything he told Scott that he would say.

"Mr. Hoying is an excellent father." Kevin says. "Taking Asher away from him would do more harm than good. Plus, Kayla has previously already signed papers saying that Scott could be the main caregiver."

"What does you have to say Ms. Anderson?" The judge asks. Scott had been happy to know that Kayla had switched her last name back. He didn't want to share a last name with a cheater.

"We have reason to believe that Mr. Hoying hasn't been taking good care of his son." Kayla's lawyer, Adam Killain, says.

"And what are these reasons?" The judge asks. Scott had no clue what these reasons could be, he always took excellent care of Asher.

"We have sources that put Mr. Hoying at a different address than his own. He's been seen there most weekends, sometimes without Asher." Killain says. Scott instantly knows who's house they're taking about.

"What do you have to say about those accusations, Mr. Hoying?" The judge asks. "Where are you normally?"

"I'm with my boyfriend." Scott says after a moment.

"We don't see how this is any different from Kayla spending time with her boyfriend, Danuel." Kevin says, cutting in. The judge nods and things continue on like that for awhile. The judge finally calls for a lunch break in and hour.

"You're doing great, babe." Mitch says, kissing Scott on the cheek. "Don't let yourself worry too much."

"I agree with Mitch on this one." Kevin says. "We're doing great. Unless they have something they're waiting to use I think we're golden."

This was comforting for Scott to hear. This case was stressing him out a lot. He just didn't know what he would do if Kayla won and got Asher full time. Scott wouldn't survive as a weekend parent. Scott loved being a dad, taking care of Asher was always the best part of his day. Scott needed to win this, he needed Kevin to be right.

"Lets go get something to eat." Mitch suggests. "We have an hour to kill and food always calms you down."

"Ok, let's go get some lunch." Scott agrees. Maybe food would relax him a little. He just needed to get through a couple more hours of this. Just a couple more hours.

I don't know if that was an accurate representation of how a courthouse works. I hope you enjoyed the chapter anyways though. Have a good rest of your days!
