"So, the real question is who the fuck are you and why is your arm around my husband?"
In that moment Scott had never wanted to punch someone more. Scott knows that this man has no right to claim Mitch as his. The blonde is able to restrain himself and Mitch speaks up before he can lose his willpower.
"I'm not your fucking husband anymore, Owen." Mitch says, spitting the words out like venom. Suddenly everything starts to make sense to Scott. He had never seen a picture of Mitch's ex before. Yet now that he knew who the man was, Scott was standing tall and giving him a death glare.
Owen looks at Mitch with a smirk. "Oh, yes you are, sweetheart. Last I checked we never got a divorce. That means that we're still married and I still have every right to keep you under my watch."
"You left, Owen. One day you just packed your bags and left." Mitch says, his grip tightening on Scott's arm. "So, yeah, we are divorced. I have full rights of our kids, you have no reason to be here."
"What did you think would happen with us, Mitchell?" Owen asks, a dangoures edge to his words. "Did you really think you could get some boy toy and I wouldn't notice? Or that I wouldn't care?"
"You left, Owen!" Mitch says, his voice almost rising to a yell. "I moved on, I had to tell our kids that you were never coming back. So, you don't get to come back now that i'm finally happy. You don't have the right to choose if i'm happy or who i'm happy with."
"Yes I do, Mitch." Owen says, running a hand through his short hair. He seemed stressed and annoyed. Yet all Scott was worried about was Mitch and Blake. He needed to get this asshole away from both of them. "Because I still love you. I was an idiot and I know that now. So why don't you dump the teacher and get back with me?"
Suddenly Mitch's face goes blank, his jaw locked and his fists clenched. "How did you know that?"
"Know what?" Owen asks. He seems just as confused as Scott.
"That Scott was a teacher..." Mitch voice trails off. "You would only know that if you had been keeping tabs on me."
The confusion on Owen's face fades away and is instantly replaced by a smirk."You're my husband, Mitch. I had to make sure that you were safe. Even when I wasn't there I always was. You should have been able to figure that out. Did you think I would have really just left without leaving someone behind? I had to make sure that you were safe, Mitchie."
"Don't call me that." Mitch snaps. "You lost that right when you walked out on me and our children. You can't decide who i'm with, Owen. I love Scott and I don't love you."
"Do you really think that this noodle will be able to protect you? When it comes down to it you'll still come running to me." Owen says, his tone bitter and harsh. Scott moves an inch closer to Mitch.
"I can protect myself, Owen. Believe it or not I am a big boy." Mitch says. "And who would Scott need to protect me from anyways?"
"Me, Mitch, he would need to protect you against me." Owen says. "Because you're either with me or against me. So, choose."
"Owen, you already know what i'm gonna say."
"I know, I was just hoping you would be smarter about this." Owen sighs. Then he reaches behind him and pulls something from the waistband of his jeans. Scott finds himself reacting before he can even see the gun. In one fluid motion a gunshot is heard and someone takes the bullet. ---
