Scott straightened his suit one more time before turning towards the man sitting on his bed. Scott had met Avi Kaplan in college. They had been roommates and clicked almost immediately. They were now best friends and still hung out very often.
Avi was Scott's go to babysitter. Avi was his only friend that didn't have a family of his own yet. Avi did love kids though and Scott was more than happy to have time to himself while Avi was with Asher.
"Thanks for agreeing to babysit, Avi." Scott says.
"Anytime man." Avi smiles. "I love Asher, plus I want you to be happy. I didn't think you'd be smiling this soon."
"I didn't either." Scott says. "So, how do I look?"
"Stunning." Avi smiles. "Your dates a lucky man. Now, go have fun. Asher and I will be fine."
"Thanks, Avi."
Scott says bye to his son before getting in his car and driving to Mitch's house. Scott had once again offered to pick him up. This time it doesn't take Scott nearly as long to knock on the door. Mitch opens it up within seconds.
"You look really good, like always." Scott says. Mitch blushes slightly and lets Scott open his car door for him.
"You clean up well." Mitch says. Scott smiles and starts driving. He had made sure to shave and ironed his suit, even though it hadn't needed it.
"So, what is this party for again?"
"Work." Mitch sighs. "It's supposted to be so the new interns can get to know their new bosses. It's basically just a bunch of interns sucking up to me and the other intendings."
"Sounds fun." Scott says sarcastically. "Well, I hope I can make it a little more enjoyable."
"I guarantee you will." Mitch smiles. It doesn't take very long to reach the hospital and soon Scott and Mitch are heading inside. Once they enter the building Scott can tell why Mitch finds it so boring.
Everyone is talking in quiet, monotone voices and the only other sound is low volume classical music. Everyone in the room is wearing either a suit or a dress and no one looks happy to be there. It's the definition of boring.
"This is a rocking party." Scott says, chuckling quietly. Mitch smiles and interlocks their hands as someone approaches.
"Hey, Derek." Mitch says. "Scott, this is Derek Shepard. He's the head of nuro. Derek, this is my date."
"It's nice to meet you." the handsome man known as Derek smiles. "I better get back to Meredith. I just wanted to say hi."
Mitch nods and Derek walks off. Scott had never met one of Mitch's friends before. It's not like they were seriously dating yet though.
"Sorry about that." Mitch smiles. "So, what do you want to do?"
"There's a dance floor." Scott says.
"Scott, I can not dance." Mitch says.
"Well, I can. So just follow my lead." he smiles. Scott drags Mitch onto the dance floor and he starts leading Mitch around the floor. It turned out Scott was actually an excellent dancer.
"What are you not good at?" Mitch asks as they keep dancing. By now they've attracted some attention. Everyone is watching as Scott elegantly dances across the room, holding Mitch close to his body.
"I suck at a lot of things." Scott says. "I can't knit, oh and i'm terrible at math. Plus i'm not certified to save lives."
Mitch laughs and rests his head on Scott's shoulder. He was enjoying being this close to the blonde. Mitch didn't even care about all of the people watching Scott and Mitch dance. By now other people had joined them on the dance floor so Scott and Mitch just start swaying to the music.
"Thanks for inviting me." Scott says.
"Thanks for agreeing to come." Mitch says. "You're making this very enjoyable."
"Well, I'm glad I could help." Scott smiles. "I really like spending time with you, Mitch. You really make my days a little brighter."
Mitch looks up at Scott and smiles. "You make my days better. I know we haven't known each other for long, I just really feel a strong connection already."
"I feel it too." Scott says. Mitch yawns and Scott chuckles slightly. They had been dancing for awhile and it was making Mitch quite tired. "How about I take you home?"
Mitch nods and Scott maneuvers them through the crowd on the dance floor. Mitch waves at a couple people as they pass and Scott keeps leading him outside. Once they're outside it doesn't take long for Scott and Mitch to reach Mitch's house.
"I had a really good time tonight." Mitch smiles. They're standing next to his front door but Mitch hasn't opened it yet.
"I did too."
"I'd invite you in but my kids would bombard you with questions." Mitch says.
"Maybe next time then?"
"There's going to be a next time?" Mitch says with a large smile.
"Definitely." Scott says. He leans down and captures Mitch's lips in a gentle kiss. "Goodnight, Mitchy."
"Goodnight, Scott." he smiles. "Drive safe."
Scott kisses Mitch one more time before getting back in his car. He's already looking forward to seeing Mitch again. Maybe this would end up beinging serious after all.
