The attached picture had nothing to do with the chapter. I'm just so happy that I can listen to this song on repeat now!
---Scott entered the living room, where Asher was sitting on the floor next to the coffee table. He had different colored pencils and crayons scattered on the table top. The older blonde smiles and walks over to his son. Asher looks up from the paper he's scribbling on.
"Hey, buddy." Scott says, crouching down next to where his son is sitting criss-crossed on the floor.. "What are you drawing?"
Asher shows his dad the picture he's been working on. It had a girl drawn on it with the words 'happy Mother's Day' in big block letters over it. Scott had compelty forgotten that mother's day was coming up. He had no reason to remember like he normally did. Scott would usually have something big planned out for Kayla. Since they weren't together it had just slipped his mind.
Scott hadn't really spoken to her since the trial. Scott only saw her when he dropped Asher off at her house. He was still angry about her trying to take his son away. Plus, Scott found he didn't have much to say to her. They hadn't been getting along all too well since the trial. It hadn't come as a shock to Mitch, he was just happy that no one had killed each other yet.
"Do you think mommy will like it?" Asher asks, his green eyes shinning with hope. He had been working on it for awhile now. Ash wanted his mom to like it. Not seeing her that often was hard for him, not that not seeing Scott was any easier.
"She'll love it, buddy." Scott says, ruffling his blonde hair. Asher smile and leans into his dad, attempting to wrap his arms around him. Asher's arms were much too small, meaning Scott had to be the one to hug him.
"I love you, daddy."
"I love you too, Ash."

It was the weekend. That meant that Scott had to drop Asher off at his exes house. So far Mitch had been happy to come with him, this time was no different. It was always awkward when Mitch and Kayla interacted. It was like Kayla was jealous of their relationship. Scott found that strange, since she had Daniel.
"Ok, do you have everything you need for this weekend?" Scott asks, opening the trunk of his car. He pulls out Asher's duffle bag and slings it over his shouler. "I'd rather not have to drive here in the middle of the night."
"That was one time." The little boy whines, looking up at his dad with big eyes.
"I know, buddy." Scott chuckles, taking one of his hands in his own. He gives Mitch, who had just been watching the whole conversation, a small smile. "Ok, let's go give you to your mother."
The trio walks up to the front door, Scott letting his son ring the doorbell. It doesn't take long for the door to be opened. The taller blonde is less than happy when a shirtless Daniel is the one to answer the door. His dark hair is wet and there's a towel resting around his neck while a tight pair of jeans rests low on his waist. Scott was only upset because he didn't yet trust Daniel around his son.
"Hey, Scott." Daniel says, a large smile occupying his face. Scott doesn't return the smile, so Daniel keeps talking. "Long time no see. How have you been?"
Scott is silent for a moment, debating what his next move will be. "I've been good." Scott says, attempting to be friendly. He figured it would be better for Ash if he was civil. "How have you been, Daniel?"
"Fine, i've been better." He says, rubbing the back of his neck. Scott could tell that he had something more to say. The blonde was debating if he cared enough to ask when Mitch did it for him.
"Something going on between you and Kayla?" Mitch asks, asking the question Scott had been wondering. Mitch gives his boyfriend a knowing smile before looking back to Daniel.
"I... I don't really know." He sighs, crossing his arms over his tone chest. "Kayla has just been really distant lately. She also talks about you a lot. It's not like she talks about Ash, it's always about just you."
Scott raises an eyebrow at that. Why would his ex be talking about him? He's about to ask more questions when Kayla appears from down the hallway. Scott had to force a smile on his face at the sigh of his ex wife. He hadn't expected to hate seeing her this much. Scott would be yelling at her if it wasn't for their son being a couple feet away.
"Hey, Scott." She smiles, light filling her eyes. She then glances at Mitch and the light leaves. "Mitch."
"Kayla." The brunette says, copying her harsh tone. He was not in the mood to be talked to like that. Scott was also getting upset that she was being rude. Mitch was off limits when it came to picking on someone, Scott made sure of that.
"Well, this has been fun, but we have things to do." Scott says, gently tugging on Mitch's hand.
"Oh, ok." Kayla says, watching them get closer to Scott's car. Before she can say anything the couple is already inside the vehicle. Scott quickly tools down the window to yell something at Asher.
"Make sure to call me, buddy!"
"I will!" Asker yells back, a large smile on his face. Scott smiles as well, and with that, he pulls out of the driveway.
