In the past month Scott had been to the hospital more than he had in a long time. Today was his lunch date with Mitch. He was actually looking forward to it. He had made sure to wear something nice and Scott even bought a dozen red roses. He was going to make sure everyone knew that they were dating.

Scott had even taken a day off of work for this. Mitch knew about that part and had argued that Scott was needed at the school. He had just wanted to spend time with his boyfriend though, Scott figured his students would survive one day without him there. Mitch was much more important to him.

Mitch was already in the hospital's cafeteria when Scott gets there. He sneaks up behind his boyfriend and wraps his arms around him, earning a quiet yelp. Mitch looks up at his boyfriend and playfully slaps Scott's arm.

"Do you always have to scare me when you greet me?" Mitch asks. "Plus you're late."

"Sorry, babe." Scott says. "I couldn't find the cafeteria. It's not my fault that I don't work here."

"It's fine, I just like giving you a hard time." Mitch chuckles. "What's behind your back?"

"I got these for you." Scott says, pulling the flowers out from behind his back. A couple people turn to watch Scott and Mitch.

"You're just too sweet." Mitch smiles. He hadn't expected Scott to buy him flowers. It was just a simple lunch date. Maybe Scott was just the type of person that liked to spoil his partner.

"So I've been told." Scott smiles. He sits next to Mitch and looks at the lunch Mitch got him. "Do you eat this stuff everyday?"

"Yeah." Mitch says. "It's not as bad as it looks."

"Whatever you say." Scott says. He brings Mitch's hand to his lips and then keeps holding it. "So, how's your day been so far?"

"It's been fine, nothing exciting has happened yet. It is better now that you're here."

"Glad I could help." Scott smiles. He pecks Mitch's lips and then takes a bite of the sandwich Mitch bought him. Scott spits it out and Mitch giggles slightly. "This is terrible."

"You're overreacting." Mitch says.

"Come on." Scott says, standing up. "I'm taking you out to lunch."

"Scott, i'm on call."

"Then we won't go that far away from the hospital." Scott says. He gently grabs Mitch's arm and pulls him up. "Come on, Mitchie, it will be fun."

"Fine." he sighs. "But we can't go too far."

"We won't." Scott smiles. He wraps his arm around Mitch's waist and they start exiting the building together. They end up just walking to a Starbucks across the street. "See, won't this be much better? We can take it back to the hospital if you want, babe."

"No, it's nice to have a small break." Mitch says. Scott nods and orders them both something to eat and drink. They grab a corner booth and sit across from each other.

"I'm glad I'm spending my day off with my beautiful boyfriend." Scott smiles. "I've been needing a day off for awhile now anyways."

"Well, you know where to find me." Mitch says. "I'm either at the hospital or at home. I just work so much."

"If I can ever help out, don't hesitate to call me." Scott offers. "I don't live that far away and I love both of your kids. I'd be more than happy to watch them or make dinner. Whatever you need."

"How did I become lucky enough to find you?" Mitch asks, taking one of Scott's hands in his own.

"I keep asking myself the same question about you." Scott says. They look into each others eyes for a long, silent moment. When they look away it's because Scott's phone is ringing.

"Shouldn't you get that?" Mitch asks, after Scott ignores the incoming phone call. "I don't mind. It could be important."

"It's not." Scott sighs. "It's just Kayla again. She won't stop calling me. It's not like she has Asher right now, so I don't want to talk to her."

"I understand, Scott." Mitch smiles. "But you need to call her back. It might be important."

"I'll do it later tonight." Scott says.

"You promise?"

"Yeah, I promise." Scott smiles. "Now, let's finish this date."
