This is something quick I want to talk about because this is ALLLLLL at my school. Being DESENSITIZED to the matters of the Black community and other minority cultures. You can be desensitized to any as a matter of fact but I just want to speak on this for a cool second.
People are so insensitive. Talking bad upon how dark people are. Saying how you have to have a child with someone who is not of African descent to have "good hair". You know, stupid stuff like that, said by black people. ]
I'm pretty sure it is where I live that people are like that. People in my community openly support Confederates. Openly racist, the Confederates were based on racism. If you don't just go off of what the school systems tell us but actually search it OURSELVES. People these days may be ignorant to it because I see it displayed in schools by people who are either black or closely friends with many blacks.
They don't know because of what we have been taught. I don't think it is okay but everyone is free to think that they want.
Also, the one that makes my head spin is the black kids talking about Muslims in a very ignorant way. We were talking about different cultures and my teacher asked how would we react if someone with a hijab was standing beside us on a subway how would we react.
To myself, I was like, keep going on with my day, I mean I do that with everyone else so what's different. Some black kid was like I would be scared that she would blow up the place. Then he started laughing and would stop saying it. I mean come on now, can we stop being ignorant. I am just wondering why am I not this way. How am I out of all kids one of the only ones not thinking in such an ignorant way? Well, I'm not very ignorant about this at least.
I just think people aren't ever gonna learn until we get educated properly.
And I will end with a question ..
What are some situations you've been in with ignorant people?
love,
black girl ki.
