So, yesterday in one of my classes this boy, white boy, was talking about something and then he said, "Yellow people." Someone else in my class said to him, "What?". He repeated himself. Then the other boy replied, "You mean Asians?". And he said, "Yeah, Asian people, yellow people, same thing."
So, hmm, then someone else called him racist. This is the part, I'm primarily considered about at the moment. So, what did he say? What most people in the presence of mixed company would say, "I'm not racist." I mean, that's okay, you said you weren't racist. Simple response.
What made me take a double take was what was spoken into the atmosphere. "I can't be racist, I dated some black girls and Puerto Rican girls, and my first girlfriend was Asian. I just can't be racist." So, yup, y'all he can't be racist, by any means, he just can't. Just simply date outside of your race and you're not racist. Can't be and never will be. It's just impossible, you can say racial slurs, be discriminatory and all of the above. It's fact that you dated outside of your race and couple of times, or even once, and now you can't be racist.
Okay, I hope you didn't go off on me so far because you thought I wasn't being sarcastic. I was, in fact, being sarcastic. Did you read how crazy that sounds? Maybe he didn't mean it or maybe he did. I don't know about all that but for a fact that is wrong.
I can't stand when people say stuff like that. For another example, "I'm black, I can't be racist." Oh yes, you can. You can even be a colorist (is that even a correct word to use?) and that just disgraceful and shameful.
Anyways, you see what I am saying? Don't let someone trick you into believing that. PLEASE don't fall for it.
So that's all I had to sayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.
And I will end with a question ..
Do you think dating someone outside of your race eliminates you from the chance of being racist?
