I'm really falling in love with Afrobeat, Reggae, Dancehall, as well as just African Pop Music lately. I honestly don't know what word I can put in place of all that unless there isn't but IDK. You know since I was born in America, in the South, and my African roots were ripped away from me so I can officially say where my ancestors were in Africa except by saying, l am Sub-Saharan African and more specifically West African (majority) and a little bit Central & South African and Broadly Suh-Saharan African. By that I mean, I don't know what country my ancestors were from, I mean, I would like to know but THANKS to British and Americans, I DON'T and everyone gets to celebrate their culture and I know some but not all. I mean at least I know I'm Sub-Saharan African, that's something, so YAY.
Anyways, back to the music, my mother and I always loved listening to this type of music and my half-sister, she is partly Jamaican (on her mother's side so that's how I know I am not because we have the same father but different mothers), and she always loved listening to Reggae and that's when I began listening to it.
Then I was like how about I listen to music related to my roots, and I realized I know nothing except the fact that I am African (this was before 23 and Me) so I looked up African POPULAR music. That is really how it all began.
Now I am not here to tell you my ENTIRE step-by-step process on how I found this music, I mean most of it was just looking it up and going on an Instagram page called blkgirls and YEAH. I don't really have a lot of songs because you know I have NOOOO idea how to find it other than social media and looking it up didn't really help me and I don't know any radio stations to listen to.
If you guys do please comment so I can listen to more.

This may seem mainstream, considering it's mainly Wizkid with Rap and R&B artists. I really don't know because I don't know how to find some underrated artists like I do with Rap and R&B music.
So, I'm asking that all of you that know songs that I didn't add, please comment. This is just 22 out of about 500 songs in those genres.
And I will end with a question(s) ..
Are there any places I can find more music like this? If you guys like this type of music, what is your favorite song?
love,
black girl ki.
