So, after watching many "Everybody Hates Angel" videos, I gained a lot of knowledge and learned a lot more. One thing that was a constant replay in his videos is concept White Savior Complex. This isn't something where I look up the facts and tell you my opinion at the end, this is an observation throughout.

First, I need to tell you what that really is (even though I am sure you can interpret what it means). The White Savior Complex/White Savior Industrial Complex was coined by writer Teju Cole in 2012 through a series of seven tweets.

So he has basically explained it in every way. When I think of this in an industrial sense, I think "missionaries" and "donations" things of that sort and it's always a white person coming to Africa to "save" these people. They come with all their good intentions to help these poor dirty Africans and save them from all the bad their ancestors and even them has caused like Africans are just bad off. I mean just look at how they perceive Jesus.

In a memoir by Amy Peterson (a former missionary) Dangerous Territory: My Misguided Quest to Save the World. With her idea to retire the word missionary and why because all the negativity that is associated with it.  In an article by Leslie Verner on the Scraping raisins website, she stated the word "carries vestiges of imperialism, colonialism, and the white man conforming the 'heathen' to his culture and way of life."

Not even in Africa but right here in my neck of the woods, America. It's simply embedded into this mindset of ours that a white person (man in particular) is here to protect us and help us.

They are volunteering for us and helping and doing the Lord's work but is slavery and brutality also part of his work. I mean, they want to harm us and then claim when are so bad off that they might as well help. Every time I see a picture like this:

I'm not tryna say that everyone is like that but hey, I'm not a politician so I WON'T be politically correct

I'm not tryna say that everyone is like that but hey, I'm not a politician so I WON'T be politically correct. I think a good majority do it so they can add that to the "nice white lady/man" resume. So that can be their next profile picture and it literally makes me sick.

But lets's move closer to home/America.

Here is some way Americans are taught this (this is the link to see these in depth: https://matadornetwork.com/change/4-ways-americans-taught-white-savior-complex-can/).

1. Hollywood: Reading this, I immediately realize how I have witnessed this for YEARS. The white person saves the needy people with their kind heart and Christ-like ways. Asian-American actress Constance Wu stated, "We have to stop perpetuating the racist myth that only a white man can save the world. It's not based in actual fact. Our heroes don't look like Matt Damon." This is one million percent true.

If anything the "Matt Damons" of the world were often the opposite.

2. School: U.S. schools, my God. As a student in the U.S., I can detest to the fact we are taught a "predominantly white, eurocentric curriculum. I've only really learned about the West, over and over and over again. That definitely creates an ideology that we are superior which I definitely thought was how it is. I can say I was blinded and brainwashed completely.

That who brainwashing is a whole other topic but I can tell you the white savior complex gets real and if we don't know the truth we don't know the truth.

Just like I regret every saying I am thankful for being in America. We would have been just fine but I was taught that even though these white people stole us we are supposed to be grateful for the fact that we are now in the land of great opportunities. Please, there would be nothing without us, so you guys are welcome, on behalf of my ancestors, you guys are so welcome.

And I will end with a question ..

What is your take on the White Savior Complex?
