Okay, I want to talk about this whole, "You can't act a color" phrase people use. I have been keeping my thoughts in FOREVER about how I feel about this. I think today I should speak on it (and please keep in mind this is MY opinion, so YEAH.)
You know how if a Black person hangs around White people a lot, listen to their styles of music, dresses, and talks like them, etc. what people will say about them. Also the same for a White person with Black culture. Many people with say they act Black/White. Those people accused or the people defending them will say "You can't act a color".
What I say to that is no, you can not act a color but don't get all smart like you don't know what they mean. Do they need to rephrase, "You act like a Caucasian/Afro-American."
We don't all act the same anyways but you can act the trend, culture, or stereotype.
I'm just saying I'm hating hearing that you can't act like a color right now.
***ADDED NOTE: You also can follow the trend/culture if you grew up around that going either way.
And I will end with a question ..
Am I right or am I wrong?
love,
black girl ki.
