I know this is a very long title, aha. I came up with this idea from my world history class, cause yes I pay attention in that class, it is one of the best classes you could EVER take in your life. We learned about something specific in class, that seemed to be a pattern. Some of this is by knowledge and I'll look up and compile the rest. I'm not sure if someone else has done this but we are just gonna go ahead and get it on.

What seems to be a pattern to me is Europeans imperializing other countries for personal gain without any regard to them or any knowledge about them. I want to name some.

The most well know one is Christopher Columbus coming in and taking over the Native Americans land, giving them diseases, killing them, cheating them, etc.

Another is when slavery started. Back in Africa, when African's were selling African's for money, the Europeans thought to themselves, "Hey, I think I want more of this Negroes, but I do feel like paying the other Negroes. Aye buddies we could just take them and force these things into slavery because we think we are better and we can be lazy and let them do all the work." They then took Africans and brought them to America.

Another that I can only slightly remember from class is the conflict of Vietnam war of the superpowers the Soviet Union and the United States of Americans. They then divided Vietnam into North and South. The SU had North and the US had the South. They divided up the countries for themselves and not the country. I don't think they even asked, they just did it.

The one I really want to talk about is 19th Century New Imperialism and Africa.

Colonization of Nealy all of Africa in the late 1800's.

So, this is part of the curriculum for my school and I was like, HEYY! this is interesting. So this was a time when New Imperialism was poppin by European powers, the United States, and Japan. I am specifically talking about European Imperialism. This was driven by the Three G's, aka, God, Gold, and Glory. In the case of Africa, it was mainly just gold and glory, knowing that Africa was known for the abundance of gold and diamonds among other things such as rubber, petroleum, and manganese.

The European powers believed their civilization was superior. Now, I will not lie, they were industrial wise, technological wise, and financial wise. The thing is they also thought they were racially superior (OF COURSE!). They believed they were the "White Man's Burden". They also believed it was their DUTY to improve the "backwards" Africans.

Europeans imperialized and colonized was based on the colonial borders they set up and NOT the different ethnic groups. So you may be thinking, why does it matter? Europeans IGNORANTLY grouped together random ethnic groups for their own gain of their resources. People that did not like each other could hate each other were put in the same countries. That could also mean that friends and close family could be separated as well.

This lead to even MORE problems. Especially dictatorships. These tyrants became very wealthy and the average African suffers in poverty. You know those commercials of the malnourished African babies, children, and adults. This is a direct result of that problem. We can send in money and food but it has to go into the hands of the dictator, then what? He gives it to the soldiers. The dictators couldn't give one freak about the other civilians. If they are good and the army is doing well, that is all that matters ... in their eyes.

In South African, due to European colonists seeking gold and diamonds, the white population in South Africa around 1910 when Africa in independent and the Europeans took their hands off African, 20% of the population was white. Then guess what happened in AFRICAAAAAAAAAAA, freaking AFRICAAAAA, the MOTHERLAND! The black majority was DENIED the RIGHT to VOTE as well as many protections of citizenship.

This is when the white government creates the system of apartheid. If you couldn't, this meant segregation (AKA like America). This was supposed to help "keep the peace" that they ruined in the first place. In all actuality, it was straight up discrimination. They did create the ANC (African National Congress) and work hard to end apartheid.

This did lead to ANOTHER problem, in Rwanda, where the borders were determined by European colonization. These two main groups Hutus and Tutsis. These two groups used to be the same ethnic group didn't hate each other or anything. Then when Europeans came in and gave some education, it, of course, affected the others. This definitely started tensions down in Africa.

So, I FINISHED. If you guys want more comment. If you know something I skipped, comment. If you want me to talk about something else, comment. COMMENT COMMENT COMMENT.

And I will end with a question ..

Did you learn something new?
