~Nicole’s POV~

After Lunch with Gabe, we returned to the hotel and Gabe left for his room while I left to go to the Arena. It is practice time after all. Feeling slightly better, I was actually ready to go on the ice and practice but when I entered the changing room. Everyone was shouting and they were all in a heated argument.

“Whoa, what the hell is going on?” I ask. All the girls look at me and they seemed to have stopped shouting. Maybe this conversation is about me? But what on earth could be going on that would have caused my team mates to get into a heated fight.

“Coach.” Triona says angrily. “Would you like to explain?” I look over at coach and he looks at me for a second, the look of guilt and one that screamed out ‘I’m sorry’. He sighs and then looks away from me.

“You’re getting traded.” Coach mumbled. I drop my bag and stare at him blankly.

“I’m what?!

“You’re getting traded to the Colorado team.” He repeated.

“COLORADO?!?! What the hell did I do to deserve this? What the fuck am I going to do in fucking Colorado?!  That’s a whole different state! What the hell?! And you tell my team mates before you tell me! No offense girls.” All the girls nod and I look back at coach. I couldn’t believe it. Trading me while I’m at a high point in my career? And what am I going to do about my swimming career? He didn’t think about that, did he?

“Nicole, the Colorado team are offering a lot for you.” He reasons.

“How much?” I cross my arms.

“Around 14 million dollars.” At that everyone and I mean everyone had their mouths hanged open. None of us could speak right now. What kind of stupid team is Colorado to be willing to pay that much for a 17 year old like me? I know I’m one of the best in the league (not sounding self-centred I’m just ranked there) but still, I’m only 17. Besides, how the hell did a team like Colorado get that much money? Are they being supplied with money by some rich ass billionaire?

“14 million?” I ask in disbelief. Coach nods. “Something is wrong there. Is this 14 million annually or for a 2 year contract?”

“Annually.”

“How long?”

“Uh…” Coach scratched the back of his neck nervously. Triona urged him to continue and he sighed heavily. “10 years.” He says and I kid you not, the whole room all shouted ‘WHAT?!?’ at the exact same time. This is not normal. What team pays 14 million dollars for a player, annually, for 10 years? And what about the other players? Are they being paid less so then I can get paid?  Whatever it is, I really do not want to know.

“And you’re accepting the offer?!”

“Well we do get a player in return.”

“BUT YOU’RE LETTING NICOLE GO! YOU MUST BE FUCKING MENTAL TO DO THAT! NO MATTER WHAT THE PRICE IS!!!” Vicky shouts. Her face goes completely red. She breathes in then out. “I’m done with this. Fuck this shit man. I’m not in the mood to practice. Nicole, you’re coming with me.” Vicky grabs my hockey bag and grabs my wrist at the same time. She leads me outside and we begin the journey back to the hotel.

“What the hell?!” I exclaimed.

“Coach is fucking trading you to mother freaking COLORADO. They have the shittiest team ever. They have never won the cup let alone get a playoff spot. I have no idea why this is happening but we can’t let this get to the press.” Vicky rushed me to the elevators and made sure that no one else entered. It’s just the two of us.
