“How about red roses and white roses? It’s a nice combination.” I ask Luke, showing him a picture of a bouquet of red and white roses. We were discussing the flowers that we would place on the tables where people would be sitting at our wedding. Since yesterday we thought that we might as well start planning the wedding, even though we may not be getting married until we are around 24. Which is around six years away.
“What is the overall colour scheme?” He puts down his phone and takes the photo from my hands. I take out my little planning folder and skip to the page under the tab ‘colours’. “I mean, would you like yellow, white and black?”
“Seems nice. I think we should just come up with some colours and then we see some testing’s with the colours and then we’ll come to a final conclusion.” Luke nods and takes hold of my hand while his other hand reaches under my shirt where he places it softly on my stomach. Something Luke has been doing a lot recently. According to him it’s his way of communicating with the soon to be growing baby in my stomach. Under his hand, my stomach growls and I grunt in annoyance. “I’m hungry.”
I set the folder aside and head to the kitchen... Putting two pieces of bread into the toaster and then grabbing the desired spread. Little does Luke know, I’ve become a littler Australian ever since I’ve started to date him. Just like every other morning, he comes into the kitchen and wraps his arms around me.
“Whoa, you’re having vegemite?”
“Yeah. I guess Ash somehow got me to like it. Maybe that’s what happens when you date and Australian." Luke kisses my cheek and reaches over to grab a banana. Remembering the incident, where I ate the banana and gave each boy a ‘problem’ I laugh to myself and begin to eat my breakfast. As soon as my toast was finished, I quickly made myself a whole bowl of ice cream sundae.
Luke sits in the living room where I see Michael too. Both were going at a strong game of FIFA. Screaming at each other and at the game. Boys and their video games. I take a seat next to Luke and watch as the two boy’s battle it out. “THAT WAS MEANT TO BE A GOAL! IT WAS MEANT TO GO IN!” Michael shouts, he then slams the remote onto the chair in frustration. Leaving Luke and I to laugh at him. “Oh so it’s funny, huh?” He taunts, I couldn’t hold in my laughter and placed the bowl of ice cream on the small table as I found myself falling onto the floor in laughter.
“I’ll take your ice cream away if you keep laughing at me.” He threatens and I get up from the floor and death glare at him. Taking my bowl and sitting as far away from him as possible. Gaining an annoyed look from Luke. “What?”
“You scared my fiancée away.” Luke pouted. He pats the seat next to him but I shake my head and get up to go to the kitchen instead. “Michael…’ Luke groaned, I saw him get up from his spot and walk over to the kitchen. “Please come back.” He begged.
“No. I’d rather stay here and eat my ice cream than go out to the living room and have you and Michael shouting in my ear as you fight over a digital game where you play people who kick balls. Literally.” I roll my eyes and quickly stuffed my mouth with a whole spoon of ice cream but the cold never bothered me anyway. Quickly I finish up the sundae and then head outside to go sit by the dinner table where my laptop was. Luke takes a seat next to me and watches me carefully. “You’re too close.”
“But we’ve been closer before.” He winks.
“I HEARD THAT.” Michael shouts from the couch. “PLEASE NO SEXUAL JOKES!!!”
“NOT MY FAULT YOU AINT GETTING ANY.” Luke and I high five each other while a defeated Michael left the living room and headed upstairs to where he was staying. Luke and I continued to laugh at how much we crushed Michael with that comment. Well how much I crushed Michael.
