they dehumanise us
we don't see models the shade of umber
We don't see people like us on TV
Because to them we are not people
Because we're 10 shades darker
Our cuts 10 times deeper
We put our hands up
to protest
to unite
to surrender
but as long as our skin is dark we are always armed
they paint us as troublemakers
as if the cause we're fighting for is trivial
they act as if we aren't fighting for our lives
For the right to speak
for the right to exist in a cocoon that doesn't fit the mould society created
they're surprised when they hit us and we hit back
10 times harder
because we're sick and tired of the Jim crows and KKKs
We're tired of them telling us it's okay when today in 2017 a white man can look at me and treat me anyway he likes because I'm black
And he can tell me that
And it's the way that it rolls off his tongue so easily, like it's a fact
It boils my blood
We're sick of having to adjust our ethnicity , our heritage to fit into a box made by fascists
We're sick of being exploited for the wonder we create while being mocked for the pain we bare
We're sick and tired of being prejudiced
enough is enough
