Chapter 61 - The Royal Arena

(POV Reichel)

I'm doomed. I have no chance of escaping this alive...

Naririnig ko ang kanilang mga arguments. It seems two or three vampires want me to live while the rest prefer to kill me. I can hear the desperation in Matt's voice, kulang na lang magmakaawa siya. I know he is fighting for me.

But where is Sage? Anak ng tokwa, mamamatay na lang ako wala pa siya?

I felt hopeless but I can't allow them to see me like this. Bakit kasi nangyari sakin to? Gusto ko lang naman isang simpleng buhay na walang complications pero ang nakuha ko, isang buhay na may touch of supernatural.

Funny, pero if this is my end, I will accept this fate. At least nagmahal ako. At least, I know that vampires truly exist. At least, marunong pala ko umibig.

Di ko na narinig kung anong pinag-uusapan ng mga royal vampires pero it seems that one of them is going to execute me. Nanalo ang mga hinayupak at selfish na vampires.

Fitting place. Nasa mala-colosseum ako at ako ay isang loser na gladiator. How I wish na nasabi ko kay Sage na mahal ko siya. 

Bakit ba kasi inuuna ko pa mag-inarte?

A man jumped from the balcony. May mask siya katulad ng lahat ng mga royal vampires. May hawak siyang isang gigantic black sword as if ready na siya na mangyayari to. 

Prepared si kuya?

There's no doubt that the man in front of me is Armand. The same Armand na akala ko ay isang normal na student lamang. The same Armand na isang martial artists na crush ko pa naman nung first year college.

"Any last word Reichel? Trabaho lang, walang personalan," sabi niya sa akin while flashing his evil smile.

I tried to speak pero as expected, wala kong boses. I can try to convince them to spare me pero without my voice, I don't have the chance.

I just smiled at him and raised my middle finger.

"Fuck you!" I whispered at him.

This surely annoyed him dahil bigla niya kinuha ang isang maliit na blade at sinaksak sa stomach ko ng hindi ko inaasahan at nagpaluhod sa akin. Hindi pa siya nakontento dahil he twist it as if seeing me in pain satisfies him. My blood poured on the floor.

"Know your place," sabi niya sabay kuha ng kanyang gigantic sword. 

I am ready to face death but before niya ko masaktan, someone quickly scooped me and I flew a few meter away from him.

"Sage?" mahina kong tanong sa lalaking may buhat sa akin na naka mask. Feeling ko biglang dumating si Tuxedo Mask para iligtas ako.

Hinubad niya ang mask sabay ngiti ng nakakaloko, "Hi, babe."

I knew it. Alam ko hindi niya ko matitiis. Hanggang sa huli, nagtiwala pa rin ako na dadating si Sage. Naiiyak ako sa tuwa. Kulang na lang sabihin ko sa kanya - My Hero!

Silence filled the arena as if narealize nila kung sino si Sage. Sinubukan niyang painumin ako ng dugo niya galing sa pulse niya, but it is no use. Huli na nang marealize niya na hindi nagwowork ang blood niya para maheal ang aking wounds. I am sure related din ito kung bakit hindi ko nagagamit ang powers ko bilang Punong Babaylan.

"You're​ a coward Prinsipe Isagani. You should have embraced your fate, but instead, you ran away. You slept for decades and resorted into lifting this curse. Wala kang karapatan na pamunuan ang vampire world..."

Dahan dahan ako binaba ni Sage at mabilis siyang nakalapit kay Armand. Without warning, Sage punctured Armand's chest at pinasok niya ang kamao as he squeezed his heart.

"Armand, the vampiric power corrupted you to your core. You will even kill a defenseless girl just for the sake of power and immortality."

"I will kill her to save our vampire race!"

"No, you want to kill her for your own selfish reasons. Do you think hindi ko alam na ikaw ang mastermind ng recent vampire attacks sa Philippines? It is against your so-called law to kill humans and to turn them into vampires. And now you want to kill this girl? Armand, you deserve a fitting punishment!"

Bago pa makasagot si Armand, mabilis na kinuha ni Sage ang puso niya at tinapon sa di kalayuan. Unti unting bumagsak ang katawan ni Armand at nagturn into ashes sa gitna ng arena.

Nanlalabo na aking paningin pero nakita ko na biglang nawala ang ilang mga royal vampires sa balcony. They are probably afraid for their lives as they voted to execute me. Ang tatlong royal vampires including Matthias ay bumaba sa arena at lumuhod sa harap ni Sage.

Sa isang kisap mata, nasa tabi ko na uli si Sage at yakap yakap ako. Kung ito na ang kamatayan ko, masaya na ako na kasama ko si Sage sa huling sandali ko.

"Matthias! Bakit hindi nagheheal si Rei?" sigaw ni Sage kay Matt.

"The arena has an anti-magic barrier para hindi magwork ang kapangyarihan ng Punong Babaylan."

"Sage..."

"Shhh wag ka na magsalita," mahina niyang sabi habang nakayakap sa akin.

"I... "

"Shhh I know. I am sorry Rei. I failed to protect you."

I just smiled at him habang tumutulo ang luha ko. I am dying and I can feel it, pero conceited pa din si gago. 

Di ko pa nga nasasabi na mahal ko siya, he knows it na daw?

My eyes are beginning to close as I touched his face. I really love this creature and I will do anything for him kahit kapalit pa ang buhay ko.

"Forgive me..." bulong ni Sage sa akin. I was about to close my eyes when I felt his fangs on my neck. 

Mamamatay na lang ako, ginawa pa ko dessert ni Sage?

That is the last thing I have heard before I gave in to the eternal darkness...
