It wasn't a mission Alec and everyone else was on. Well, it was but on a much larger scale. So Alec had a slight idea why he was facing a greater demon. He was slowly running out of arrows too. He shot multiple arrows at the being, the shards and sticks of runed metal being engulfed by the demons body. Alec huffed in impatience and in slight panic.

The demon was disgusting, and had a name that Alec couldn't bear to pronounce, never mind remember in the first place. It was as big as an oak tree, and smelt of rotting meat and wet dog. Like the Hunters Moon, but a thousand times worse.

It looked like it was made of tacky tar, sticky, but not liquified. The mass of black whatever-it-was stretched over what looked like bones poking from each limb. Alec could hear snapping as the demon advanced towards him, its body cracking and twisting in ways Alec never knew a body could. It wanted to make him retch up the food he didn't eat.

There was a family dinner before Alec and everyone else rushed out. He didn't eat anything because he was being lectured by his father. "Being gay is bad." This. "No son of mine will kiss a downworlder." That. He was relentless. Roberts pestering put Alec off his food, as well as the fact that Isabelle helped cook it much to the dismay of Maryse.

Alec thought of everyone else fighting together, having someone's back. He had no one to take care of him if he got knocked down. He was all by himself in this bastard place. Where even was he? He had no clue. It was dark and there was a skylight that let in pale shards of light through the dusty glass, ray by ray.

Alec hummed to himself, keeping on his toes, dodging glowering fireballs the demon was spitting at him. He threw small, dagger-shaped angel blades at the creature after whispering each's name. "Stay alive, Alec. Do it for Izzy, Jace, Clary, that stupid vampire, the other stupid vampire, the Spanish one, Luke, mum, dad, Magnus.." Alec repeated those words to himself like they were a mantra, and prayed to the angel that everyone was safe albeit a few injuries. It was inevitable after all.

He thought of Isabelle. Isabelle fighting alongside Simon. Clary with Jace, Maryse with Robert, Raphael and the clan, Luke and the pack. Magnus. Magnus and who? Magnus was supposed to be with Alec, but he stupidly pushed him away as he ran to the tar thing he was facing off with. Stupid, stupid boy. Alec thought to himself as he shot his last arrow. The weapon melted upon contact with the demon and Alec cursed.

He pulled his stele out and traced an iratze as quickly as he could just as the demon shot out a stream of bubbling acid at him. He ducked and dived behind an oil barrel. "Alexander Lightwood. You're better than that I'm sure. I've heard about you.." The demon hummed in its snarling, sickly sweet voice. Alec retched. The smell was everywhere; in his clothes, up his nose, stinging his eyes. He pulled an angel blade from his pocket and whispered it's name. It wasn't a massive thing. It was a dagger; and it glowed brightly with angelic energy. Alec popped up and threw the blade forward, hitting the demon where it's heart would be.

The thing laughed. "Well, you got me. Just letting you know though, my pals got your Magnus. He's long gone now. A pair of Iblis and Scorpio demons got him. He was all by himself, all helpless. Bet you'd love to see that, right? Love to see the light drain from his ey-" "SHUT UP! SHUT UP! YOU'RE BLUFFING." Alec screamed, jumping from behind the oil canister with a yell as he ran and drove a katana-looking angel blade straight into the demons heart. It dematerialised into ash before his eyes and he stood there for a while.

He was covered in blood, and dirt, and his hair was a mess, the stench of the demon lingered in the air and stung his eyes more. It was stronger when he acknowledged it. He dropped to his knees and wept. He didn't need confirmation from anyone. If a greater demon had told him Magnus was dead he probably was. Magnus' gold-green eyes flashed underneath Alec's eyelids as he cried, tears washing his face. He still looked a mess, there was only so much tears could do to a face covered in dirt.
