"No, no, Izzy your highlight." Alec stopped his sister as she was pulling on her boots. "What are you on about, Alec?" Isabelle cocked an eyebrow, and Alec reached out to smudge a line of highlight that she'd failed to blend. "There." He finalised, checking his sister's weapon belt. She was going to collect the newly ascended Simon from the Shadowhunter Academy for a shopping trip, and Alec was debating either tagging along or going on his own. Idris was a busy but isolated place. Not many people liked Alec and not many people dared to even say hi to him. Being a gay shadowhunter in a biracial relationship with a downworlder and also being a Lightwood was more difficult than most would think. He dealt with racial, homophobic, and downworlder slurs day in day out, and it was just a few days ago that he got into a fist fight with another shadowhunter in Angel Square over opinions. Sure Alec won, but that didn't change how the guy had said how Magnus Bane was a weak, queer warlock with nothing better to do than waste his time on a shadowhunter who apparently wasn't worth shit. He emphasised how Magnus and every other downworlder species were scum too, and Alec left him with considerably severe injuries.
He left a feather light kiss on his sister's crown before she stood tall in her heels, and she reached up to tousle his hair. "Be safe." Alec smiled. "No promises, big brother. Also if I were you I'd go to the new Sephora at around half two pm today." Izzy chortled, leaving Alec running after her down the courtyard in his ratty black jumper and jogging bottoms to ask what she meant by that. He stopped at the fountain, the small paving stones cutting into the soles of his bare feet. He winced, before making his way back into the manor with a huff or three.
It was currently thirty minutes past twelve, which meant that Alec had approximately two hours till he had to go on the hunt for the newly established Sephora building beside Diana's weapons shop. Idris didn't have shops for anything other than necessities, clothing, and weaponry, so for a massive shop to open in Alicante of all places was a little bit of a shock. Alec curled up on the sofa in the lounge, his lanky frame sunken into the pillows as he got lost in the all too familiar pages of Two Boys Kissing. It was a modern book, and even though Alec preferred a classic to a kin he was willing to at least scan the book once. By the time the obnoxiously loud grandfather clock chimed one, Alec had finished the entire thing, and was a quarter of the way immersed in Carry On. He seemed to prefer Carry On to Two Boys Kissing, probably because even though the latter was about real controversy, Carry on was quite similar to Alec's relationship. In a way, that was.
At this point Alec was anticipating whether Simon Snow was going to kiss Baz Pitch, but he was also anticipating whether they were going to burn to death in the fire. Either way he was on edge. Then, before he knew it, the clock chimed two pm. He reluctantly placed the book down, drained his mug of what tea there was left, and went to his room to change. Gear was appropriate, but today was his chill day. Robert was off doing boring Clave things, Maryse was over in Thailand having a spa day with the head of the institute over there, and Isabelle was out with Simon. Magnus, however, was locked all the way back home in Brooklyn. Important warlock matters and rules in Idris meant it was physically impossible for Magnus to have time off to see Alec. If only Max, Rafael, and not so baby blueberry were there to see him. Alec had concluded that if his little brother Maxwell was still alive, he'd be with Simon and Izzy discussing Star Wars and Naruto, whatever that was. Magnus and Alec's little boys were also spending time with Magnus. Rafael was asked to come by inquisitor Jia Penhallow, on request to see how her slightly related nephew was doing in his training regardless of how many reports he sent to her. Rafael denied, since Max wasn't able to join him.
In the end, Alec decided on a murky green long sleeved shirt, and some ripped black jeans Magnus had bought him from Milan a few weeks back. God he couldn't do anything without thinking of his beautiful boyfriend could he? Alec bounced down the joint staircase, skidding down the carpet to pull his boots on. He clipped his weapons belt on, and then left. The Lightwood manor was close to the Herondale manor, which was far from Alicante town centre, so Alec took one of the horses from the stables to ride. Making his way through rolling fields and dirt tracks, Alec allowed himself to take in the scenery he hadn't had time or the care to when he was younger. As he reached the cobbled streets, he got looks from anyone and everyone. All shadowhunters knew his name and status, and they gawked, but never said anything.
