"I'm sorry but love potions can't be made. One, they're dangerous. And two, if it did work the effects would wear off and even if I kept making you them you'd have to pay me a lot. I can't get Behemoth demon venom easily." Magnus sighed, raising his eyebrow at the werewolf. She had asked for a love potion, one that Magnus had brewed before with minor difficulty and bad effects. She wanted it because her ex had dumped her when she'd found out what she had became. She wanted her back. Sad, really.Magnus pressed his fingers to his temple as the werewolf barked back a reply. "I'll pay you, no matter how much. I just want my girlfriend back." She pleaded. Magnus looked at her sorrowfully. At this rate she would go mad. She'd get bored after a while of having to slip the potion into her ex's drinks and liquid food, and cut it off. The lycanthrope was naive, of course she was. She'd do anything for love, even if it would end badly. Magnus decided to set the records straight.
"Listen, Kayla. I'm awfully sorry. If I make a potion with that type of difficulty and on a regular basis it will not only tire me but you out as well. Because the potion will be used by you on your lover girl, you will get tiresome and it will do things to your health. I can't have you hurt, you're one of the nicest lycanthropes I know." Magnus smiled and patted his spiked hair, glitter falling down in a puff of iridescence onto the spell book he was reading.
Kayla sniffed and bowed her head. She looked back up at Magnus after a minute or two of awkward silence, smiling not quite happily but not sadly either. "Thank you, Magnus. People really don't give you enough credit for what you do." She explained, standing up and brushing her clothes down with her hands that she lifted and saw glitter on. Magnus gave a sheepish look. "It gets everywhere." "I can see." Kayla laughed.
She made her way to the door where Magnus followed. She gave him a brief hug before stepping through the threshold. "Thank you again, Magnus. Stay safe on your way home." She finalised, shaking his hand. Magnus smiled at the girl who looked no older than 15. "You're very welcome buttercup. You stay safe too, and say hello to Luke and Maia for me." Magnus patted Kayla's head of brown curls. "Will do. Bye!" She called out as she turned and left.
Magnus wasn't at the loft. He'd been staying at a small hall in a quiet area of Brooklyn, taking clients. Since Alec lived with him he usually walked around without a shirt or trousers on, usually just boxers. Magnus wasn't disagreeing with that but when Alec was sleepily trudging from the bedroom to the kitchen Magnus didn't want a trio of cheeky pixies hooting at his boyfriend. He'd rented the hall out, well, he'd cast a spell on the owner to let him have the room for as long as he needed. Sometimes being a warlock had its tropes.
Alec was lazing around. He was laid spread-eagle in the silk sheets of the bed he and Magnus shared. It was in the afternoon and Alec was free of any missions, so he was making the most of his day and doing absolutely nothing. He rubbed at his eyes before getting up with a groan. He wanted a hot drink. He and Magnus usually drank way too much coffee so Alec decided to have a break. Magnus had a cabinet full of teas that he'd collected from around the world and even though Alec had only drank earl grey once when he was little and on a family trip in Idris, he still had a love for tea.
Alec grabbed the one that sounded cool, and read the post-it note that was haphazardly stuck to the bag of loose tea leaves.
Put tablespoon in strainer and steep for three minutes, longer if desired.
Alec smiled at Magnus' smudged handwriting and stood on his tiptoes to open the cupboard above him and grab the teapot. He followed through each instruction carefully and spooned in some honey to sweeten the tea. He hissed as he poured the hot water into the pot and burned himself. He didn't know glass heated up quickly. He couldn't pronounce the tea he picked, but at least it tasted good right? It was called 'Echinacea and Rosemary' and Alec really liked how it tasted. Alec saw small print on the post-it note and held the paper to his face, reading.
