(This is based on the anime Tokyo Ghoul so if you haven't seen it then I think you'll have trouble understanding it. There are ghouls which are non human and they eat humans to survive. There are also investigators who kill ghouls and use the tentacle like appendages from dead ghouls as weapons. They are referred to as doves.)

"What do you mean?" Asked Magnus, turning to look at Raphael who was absent-mindedly sipping a steaming cup of coffee. "I mean, if the doves find out we're a team of ghouls running a coffee shop, we're done for. You know what they'd-"

"Come on Izzy, you love coffee. Plus, I promised I'd visit Magnus today." Alec nudged his sister, pulling her up some steps to a recently opened cafe. Alec's sister Isabelle smiled, and followed him after all. Alec opened the door, and he was met with two pairs of eyes staring at him from the counter. He found it strangely alluring.

Magnus was a ghoul. Born one to be precise. He didn't want to be one, never  expected to be one either. Circumstances change though, and that's where it took him. Raphael was like his brother; also a ghoul, but changed into one as opposed to Magnus' heritage. Magnus' kagune was a chimera. He had Ukaku which was good for high speed attacks, from his mother, and Rinkaku which was good for brute strength and healing from his father. Alec was an investigator. Since he turned 18 he'd been accepted into the CCG, protecting humans from ghouls in the 20th Ward. He was a senior investigator, and Isabelle was a second rank investigator.

Alec walked up to the counter, pressed a kiss to Magnus' cheek, and took a seat. Isabelle just smiled and sat beside him. "What can I get you, Isabelle?" Raphael asked, getting up from his seat to walk around the counter and heat some water up. Magnus was already pouring Alec's regular into a cup, and with a wink he placed it in front of him. "How have things been at work?" Magnus asked, leaning against the counter and playing with the tip of his tie. He eyed the metal briefcases Alec and Isabelle had placed between the stool legs. "Busy as usual, caught one of the rebels in the park near mum's house last night, and eating a civilian no less." Alec said, taking a sip of his coffee. Magnus winced. "And you? What's the 20th Ward been like for you, Isabelle?" Raphael noticed the tense atmosphere, and cut in. "More hectic than the 17th, that's for sure." Isabelle smiled, taking her drink from Raphael. Isabelle, being a lower ranking investigator, had been posted in a calmer Ward until her promotion came up. The siblings drank and talked a little more until their phones rang. They picked up in unison, just as siblings did. "Right, got it, we're on our way." They said, in unison once again. Alec downed the rest of his coffee, no doubt burning his mouth, before picking his briefcase up and planting a kiss on Magnus' cheek once more. Isabelle left her coffee, grabbed her briefcase, and followed Alec outside.

"Someday that man is going to end you, don't act like you don't know it." Raphael sighed, moving to pick up Isabelle's coffee cup and rinse it under the tap. Magnus nodded. "I know."

Alec raced downtown with Isabelle. They'd been called on sudden news of the local rebel ghouls teaming up and taking over the west park, where Alec had killed a ghoul the previous night. The two split up at the sight of how many there were. "Be safe, it's kill or be killed little sister." Alec warned, but Izzy was already off. Alec approached the trio of ghouls opposite him, they were staring him down. "Shoulda known they'd send doves.. Where are your friends?" One said beneath her mask. "Shut up." Alec sighed, pressing the button on his briefcase. His Quinque took shape. It was from some Rinkaku ghoul, one killed by him and his brother Jace a while back. It took the shape of a bow, and Alec pulled at the tissue till a sharpened rod formed. He notched it, and let it fly. A ghoul with its back turned got hit. The shard pierced her chest, and she fell to the grass before her kagune formed. Alec identified it, an Ukaku, and ran forward. He shook the bow and it snapped into a sword, changing forms almost instantly. He gutted the ghoul, slashing the kagune off, and stood in defence as the other rebels stared him down. "Not bad for a dove." The same girl from earlier smiled, her mouth the only facial feature visible. "You don't want to kill me?" Alec asked, still holding his Quinque up. The male ghoul beside the smiling one shrugged. "We're rebels, it's not like we care if one of us gets killed. We're just hungry." He said nonchalantly, making Alec grow goosebumps.
