Song ~ Andrew James - Memphis

Alec flinched and turned into the safe shade of the covers when light split through the curtains. Magnus was stood at the windowsill and had slid them apart, bathing the room in warm light as he hummed a song Alec didn't recognise. "Come on my little shadowhunter, wake up." Magnus padded over to the bed, kneeling in front of it where Alec's face was obscured by the blankets, and pulled the covers back. Alec's eyes finally opened, and he lazily blinked as Magnus ran a ringless hand through his hair. Despite looking as tangled as ever it was silky and soft, and slunk through Magnus' fingers.

"Alec get up, my dear." Magnus watched as Alec's eyelashes fanned out over the apples of his cheeks. He had abnormally long eyelashes, and they were beautiful. God help Alec if Magnus got the mascara out. Alec groaned. Magnus slid his hands underneath Alec and sat him up. He had to hold him upright, if he let go Alec would fall back onto the covers. Alec blindly let his hands wander from Magnus' sides to his neck, and pulled the warlock down so he was straddling him. Alec pulled him close. "Come back to bed, Magnus.. I'm sleepy." He whispered, and Magnus laughed breathily.

"Would you like to go to the beach today, Alexander?" Magnus nudged Alec's cheek, and the shadowhunter's eyes opened abruptly. He nodded. "Get up then, baby boy. I'll get you some coffee and breakfast, okay?" Magnus clambered off of Alec graciously, as always, and sauntered out of the bedroom and into the kitchen where he made some food and a mug of black coffee. Alec smiled to himself. He was used to Magnus and his nicknames, but he hadn't heard 'baby boy' that much and although he didn't like it at first it had grown on him and made him feel all warm and fuzzy. After a while Alec decided to get up, and he scrubbed a hand down his face. He heard Magnus walk in and when he looked up he saw his boyfriend holding a tray with a bowl on it along with a mug.

He placed it down on Alec's lap, and Alec's face crumpled. He pointed at the food in the bowl. "Magnus? What's that." He gestured towards it. "Alexander that's porridge." "Porridge? What's porridge?" Alec was genuinely confused, not just joking like Magnus thought he was. "It's oats and milk warmed up. It's boring on its own." Magnus laughed, and pressed a kiss to Alec's temple. "Is mine boring?" Alec looked sad. "No, sweet pea. I put golden syrup in yours." Magnus ran his fingers through Alec's hair, and Alec nodded. He lifted a spoonful of the mush to his mouth, and stuck his tongue out gingerly. "Alexander it's hot and delicious. You'll love it." Magnus nodded, and took a bite from the spoon to show Alec that it wasn't bad. "Well you know I have a taste for things that are hot and delicious, don't you?" Alec raised an eyebrow, and Magnus choked on the oats. "Alexander, eat." Magnus tried to get Alec to have a spoonful of the food, and stood up to grab some clothes from the wardrobe.

Alec managed to eat the full bowl of porridge and at least four cups of coffee by the time he was dressed, and he came up behind Magnus to back hug him. "You ready?" He smiled, and got a kiss on his ear as a reply. "Come on then. Let's go." Magnus gestured towards the doorway where a portal was pulsing white against the dark oak of the doorframe. Magnus pulled Alec along and through it, and they were spat out in a place that looked like a bar. Not a modern one, it was dark and dimly lit, and filled with all sorts of people. One man waved hello to Magnus, one girl winked in Alec's direction then grimaced when she saw his and Magnus' twined hands. Magnus yanked him through the entrance and Alec smiled at the place. It wasn't sunny and bright like LA, or dark and dingy like New York, but it was beautiful.

The bar opened up in a storefront, and opposite that was the beach, and a murky grey/green ocean. "I know it's not much, but it's really a nice place here." Magnus flushed. He had fond memories of coming here with Will, Tessa, and Jem, in the past. He thought Alec would like it. And he did. Alec pulled a video camera out from nowhere, and held it up to Magnus' face and clicking the record button. Magnus smiled in disbelief. "This place is beautiful, Magnus." Alec zoomed in haphazardly on Magnus' glittery eyeliner, then back out. Magnus took Alec's hand as he recorded with the other, and pulled him across the road and down steps till stone became sand. Alec was pulled even further down till both men reached the shoreline, and they stood there watching the tide lap at their shoes. Alec filmed all this, and turned the lens so his face was on the screen. Magnus was busy looking out at the murky grey horizon so he was surprised when Alec gripped at the front of his linen shirt and pulled him in for a kiss on the lips. It all got filmed, the sound of the ocean, Magnus' shocked murmur, the boyfriends' smiles.

The two men walked leisurely along the oceanside, before turning back to the line of shops. Alec saw one that he thought was cute, and proceeded to tug Magnus inside. He stared at all the little trinkets, and grabbed various things from the velvet covered tables. Magnus did the same and when they paid Magnus realised he didn't even see what Alec had gotten. Alec was already out of the door when Magnus had put his stuff in a paper bag, and was seated at a small metal table. He had something in his hand, and closed it in his palm when Magnus sat opposite him. "What is it?" Magnus smiled, and Alec looked at him through half-lidded eyes. He handed the item to Magnus. It was small, silver, and had something engraved into it. It was a necklace charm, a silver one, with the brand of an arrow on the centre. It had writing engraved on the back, and Magnus had to squint to read it.

'Amor Verus Numquam Moritur'

Alec smiled sheepishly when Magnus gave it back, and got a kiss on the head. "I was planning on finding a chain and giving it to you, but you've seen it now, so.." He trailed off, and Magnus chuckled. "Alec it's fine. In fact, it's great. Let's go." He reassured his shadowhunter boyfriend, took his hand, and set off down the street with him. Alec had filmed it, the shop, the pendant, everything so far. Magnus and Alec bought food, this time not at a posh restaurant or taco truck. It was from a sheltered stall that seemed to be glamoured from sight. Alec had pulled his stele out and retraced his voyance rune as the shop seemed to get brighter and brighter till Alec could see it fully. They'd bought fish and chips, the cheap kind, and were served by a werewolf with a glassed over left eye. She was pretty. They'd settled outside on one of the cheap metal tables, and took chips from the tray. The food was parcelled up inside packing paper and it looked so mundane, so simple.

While they were eating Alec had filmed it all, Magnus' little smile as he ate a chip, the fiddling with the pendant between Magnus' fingers. Rain had started to fall now, and the camera wasn't wet thanks to Magnus warding it almost instantly. Alec ran a hand through his wet hair, and held the camera up with his other hand, all the while grinning at Magnus. Both men cleared up, and were soaking wet by the time they'd ate everything. Magnus' white linen shirt was sticking to his skin, and Alec's jumper warmed him momentarily until he felt a gust of wind hit him. Alec slung an arm around Magnus and pulled him close till their hips were bumping as Magnus did his swaying model walk. Alec focused the camera on his face, then Magnus', and then Magnus' butt. Magnus swatted him away, smiling, and Alec filmed as Magnus pressed a kiss to his cheek.

They went home after a little while of wandering around, the place was deserted mostly and although beautiful, it couldn't beat the cosiness of the loft. They'd teetered through the portal hand in hand, and flopped down on the sofa. "You tired?" Magnus smiled, and poked at Alec's cheek. Alec replied with a hum. "Come on.." Magnus stood and pulled Alec up with him. The shadowhunter went limp. "Come on, Alexander. Let's go to bed, then you can flop all you wish." He tempted, and Alec stood on his feet. Both made their way to the bedroom undressing each other. Alec managed to trip over his own socks, then Magnus' afterwards. Alec took his time in undoing Magnus' linen shirt, and ran a tired hand down the still-damp tan skin. Magnus pulled Alec's jumper over his head, and relished in the sight. Glistening pale skin, black runes, jeans hung low on the hips. Magnus helped Alec out of his, and Alec did the same for Magnus. After the undressing Magnus took off his makeup and brushed out his hair, and they just flopped down into the bed, tangled in the sheets and each other.

Magnus curled up in Alec's chest, and peppered butterfly kisses on his collarbones. Alec made a distressed noise, and they flipped so Alec was the one being cuddled. Despite being a grown man and the Head of the New York Institute, he loved cuddling with Magnus. Magnus rested his chin against Alec's forehead, and dug his nose into his hair. He smelt of sea salt and Alec. 'Alec' being a warm cinnamon/mint type of smell. Although Magnus was over eight hundred years old he'd never smelt something as good as Alec. He smelt warm and cosy and like home.

"Goodnight, my dear.." Magnus kissed Alec's forehead warmly, and Alec hummed.

"G'night, Magnus." Alec sighed into Magnus' caramel chest before spiralling into sleep and dreaming of what he'd filmed. They were totally going to watch it the next day.
