Alec and Magnus had both been wanting a child for a while now. Magnus had no clue Alec wanted one, and Alec had no clue Magnus wanted one.It was after a mission, and Alec was strapping his knives back into his belt and the holsters on his thighs. "Alec, check the upper parts of the building, I'll check down here." Jace flipped a seraph blade in his hands and Alec nodded, starting up the stairs. They were in a mansion, the type of one Iris had, and it was home to a nest of demons. There were rumours of the demons snatching people from their homes and feeding on them, downworlders or not, which wasn't like demons at all.
Alec gripped at the angel blade in his hand, and it glowed stark white against the dank musty walls of the house. Alec could see each mould patch, and it smelt more disgusting the farther he went up. He braved through the stench, and heard crying over his own heavy breathing. He started to run at this point, quickening his speed as he searched out the source of the sobbing. He got to a closed door, and swung it open, holding the seraph blade over his face. He didn't see anyone in the room, it was empty save for a few cots.
That's when he realised. The crying was from children, not grown people. How could he have not known that? He sheathed his blade, and stepped further into the dimly lighted room where two cots stood. In one lay an infant, a beautiful blue-skinned boy, a warlock. On the other was another young boy, stood clutching the bars of the cot. He looked like a mundane. He knelt between the two cribs, and looked at both babies. They'd stopped crying now, and stared at him. "Hey.." Alec started, reaching out both arms to the kids. Both latched on instantly, gripping to Alec's hand with their grubby little fingers. A smile spread across Alec's face. He didn't know whether the smile was in sorrow or love for the two kids.
Without thinking he swept the two boys into his arms and jogged downstairs to where Jace was waiting with Isabelle. "Two little boys, on their own." Alec sighed, and looked down at the kids who had stopped crying as soon as they had saw him. Isabelle smiled. Jace stood shocked. "Let's get them to the institute." Isabelle smiled, and walked forward to pick up one of the boys. Both recoiled, and gripped onto Alec's shirt. Isabelle coughed awkwardly. "They both like you, Alec." Jace smiled, and pulled Alec's multiple seraph blades from him, as to not let the kids grab them. Alec grinned uncontrollably, and left the manor with his siblings and the two boys.
When they got back to the institute, Alec managed to put them down in the infirmary and find a doctor who they'd let examine them. "The little one is definitely a warlock, the older one is nephilim, a shadowhunter." Alec stepped forward, and looked at the two boys who were now cleaned up and dressed. Alec swept the two kids into his arms and ran to Isabelle who was with Clary, having her portrait done. "Can you care for them, there's somewhere I need to go." Alec hummed, and passed the babies to both Clary and Izzy. Alec yelled a thanks and ran off, making his way straight to the loft.
When he got there Magnus had a client, and had kissed his husband on the cheek as he was being consulted before walking to the bedroom. He was light on his feet, and jumpy. He had no clue if Magnus wanted a child, but he did, and those boys were perfect. A little blue warlock and a raven haired shadowhunter. After half an hour of waiting for the stupid vampire Magnus was making a deal with to leave, Alec basically jumped through the bedroom doorway and slid across the floor to where Magnus was leaning against the counter in the kitchen. "Magnus.." He said, huffing from tiredness. He'd basically ran to the loft, and didn't even bother to retrace his runes so he was still tired.
"Alexander are you okay? What's wrong?" Magnus had stepped closer to Alec and had his ringed hands on Alec's hips. Alec smiled brightly. "No, god no, it's nothing bad Magnus. I have something to ask you." He sped, not giving himself time to take a proper breath. Magnus sighed in relief. "Would you ever-" he stopped to take a deep breath in and exhale. "Would you ever, think of adopting a child?" He finished off, and Magnus smiled. "It's always been a dream to have a child of my own, Alexander. Even if it's not my own flesh and blood. That doesn't matter. It takes anyone to have a child, but a real parent is someone who loves their child regardless of if they're biologically related or something else like that." Magnus explained and Alec sighed happily, looking into his husbands eyes almost lazily. He was proud to be in love with this amazing man.
