Song ~ The 1975 - Is There Somebody Who Can Watch You
~

Alec slipped in and out of consciousness, black covering his vision as he tried to make out what was going on. He heard something about Magnus and magic and gone and he froze. He watched Jace slip off further into the alley and tried to focus on Magnus. Was it even Magnus? Was he dreaming? Did Jace leave him to die? He coughed and choked, blood spilling from between his lips as he tried his best to talk to the person/hallucination looming over him. "Promise.. Promise to keep," he took in a lungful of dusty air that did nothing to help, "Keep Magnus Bane safe." He finished, feeling himself slip into stasis.

Magnus picked Alec's limp body up in his arms and raced around the stupid multi story car park to find Isabelle and the others standing worn out. She gasped at the sight, rushing over to settle Magnus who was shaking with his boyfriend still in his arms. "Save him, please." Was all she said, tears in her eyes. Magnus hiccuped back a tear. "I can't, I- I made a bargain. I don't have my magic anymore." He sobbed, cradling Alec closer. He turned his head at the sensation of a healing hand touching his shoulder, and Catarina was there, blue skin and all.

Magnus moped around, hair curled into small waves and makeup simple but beautiful nonetheless, wearing jogging bottoms and a zip up jacket. The gentle lulling voice of Billie Holiday resonated through the loft and into his heart, warming him when Alec couldn't.

Someday he'll come along,
The man I love,
And he'll be big and strong,
The man I love,
And when he comes my way,
I'll do my best to make him stay,
He'll look at me and smile,
I'll understand,
Then in a little while he'll take my hand,
And though it seems absurd,
I know we both won't say a word.

Alec woke with a killer headache and the inability to move. He tried coughing, but hacked up a tube that was down his throat so it fell with a clatter and a sickening splat to the floor. He sat up abruptly with a loud cry, his whole body aching and throbbing with pain, and an alarm went off. His head raced, he hadn't even woken properly and there he was having a panic attack already. Great. A curtain slid aside, and there stood a glamoured Catarina in her scrubs. Once she'd calmed Alec, he looked around. "Why am I in a mundane hospital?" He whined, throat dry from god knows how long of being out of it. "You were in a coma for around a week. Jace's sloppy iratze closed the arrow inside you and if I'd gotten there even a minute later I doubt you would've made it. I needed a place where I could operate with all my tools and medication." Catarina explained, placing her palm on Alec's forehead and clicking a few buttons on a machine beside the bed. "Where's Magnus?" Alec asked, sitting up fully and tearing the oxygen tube from his nose. Catarina sighed. "I banned him." She spoke softly. "You what?" Alec deadpanned, attempting to swing his legs out of the bed and stand. Catarina ushered him back in sternly, tucking the blankets around him and positioning his snapped wrist carefully atop the blankets. "He was losing sleep. He'd be here all day and night so I sent him to rest. It was either that or I put him on a drip." Catarina smiled sadly, her blue skin glamoured but just as beautiful. "When can I see him?" Alec asked, glancing around at the section of hospital he had. It was like a small child's bedroom. A soft look flashed onto her complexion before disappearing. "Soon." She smiled again, and Alec didn't know whether it was the truth or a lie to make him feel better.

Magnus bowed his head, phone to his ear. "Catarina you don't- let me see him.." He cried out, leaning into Isabelle who was running her fingers through his hair to calm him. "Magnus you're borderline sick. You need rest." She chided softly, sighing. After moping for around an hour and being generally sad Magnus had invited Isabelle over to binge watch Project Runway, a show he and Alec both loved even though Alec wouldn't admit it. Magnus gaped at the voice muffled in the back. "Cat? Is that Magnus? Let me see him." He heard Alec grumble. "You- when did he wake up?" He sat up abruptly, feeling Isabelle straighten her back too. "Today. He doesn't remember you saying you lost your magic." Catarina sighed again, fatigue evident in her voice. Magnus' eyes widened. He leaned back against Izzy, who took him into her arms. "I can't tell him Cat. He'll kill me." Magnus choked. Catarina huffed a soft laugh, one Magnus hadn't heard in months. The soft smell of burnt sugar wafted through Isabelle's bedroom and suddenly a portal was there. It pulsed, and both Magnus and Isabelle could see the blue and white colour scheme of the hospital through the whirlpool. Magnus practically leapt through it, yanking Isabelle in with him, and he almost dropped to his knees at the sight.
