Song ~ Dodie Clark - Would You Be So Kind
~Ever since he was a child, Alec had always been one to think before he acted. But that didn't mean he paid every bit of attention he could muster onto that act. The shadowhunter, from a very young age, was clumsy. He could be ditzy sometimes, confused, take his surroundings in the wrong context. He was like a lanky string noodle, a muscled one at that, and Magnus had to admit it was funny to see him bumble around like a puppy.
Izzy knew Alec all too well, and her and Jace were used to his awkward antics by now. With the help of runes and a strong coffee, Alec was up and at em, he was awake and aware. But if he was just at the Lightwood Manor or the Loft and had just woken up; that was an entirely different story.
Alec awoke to the sound of wind fluttering the gauze netting on the window, and Magnus' light breaths on his neck. He smiled and, trying to be as stealthy as possible, pulled his arm from beneath his fiancées warm torso. The warlock sniffed, then went back to a peaceful sleep. "Yes!" Alec mouthed to hisself triumphantly, reaching over to grasp his phone from the bedside table. He clicked it on, wincing and spitting out a string of silent swear words as he tossed it across the room where it thumped the wall and waited for the blinding white light to turn off. He felt his heart just about to beat out of his bare chest, and turned away from Magnus to get up. It was just after 4:45 am. Alec had seen the blocky black numbers on his phone screen before its untimely demise along with the wall.
Alec's next movements couldn't have gone worse. He swung his legs off the mattress and attempted to sit up as quickly as possible. He didn't realise one of Magnus' arms was still tucked around his torso; so when he sat up abruptly the arm swung back to hit Magnus straight in the face. Alec jumped up and swore silently, half feeling extremely regretful and half wanting to laugh so hard he fell to the floor. Once he composed hisself, he made his way to the bathroom. Even shadowhunters used it; sadly there was no rune for that specific activity. He picked his phone up and, using the screen as a flashlight, manoeuvred his way out of the bedroom. He stubbed his toe on the door. Jumping on one leg and teetering around the bathroom and bedroom threshold, Alec turned to look at Magnus who was thankfully still sound asleep. During his relationship with Magnus he had realised that only the rising sun would wake the warlock. That, or kisses. Mostly the latter worked.
Alec now wanted a snack. Goddamn his urges. Not those urges, no inappropriate and vulgar urges here. He wanted some food. So, manoeuvring his way around the four poster bed and through the bedroom, he went on a quest for sustenance. He didn't get as far as the doorway to the hallway before having an accident. His foot got caught in the head hole of his t-shirt he'd left on the floor. Goddamn his organised mess. He'd known it was there but he didn't want to move it. Typical Alec. Still though, Magnus didn't stir.
Alec started again. He made it out of the bedroom and with one quick leap he was in the threshold of the kitchen. The tile was cold on his feet, freezing even, and he wanted to eat then go back to sleep. (what a mood) He pulled open a cabinet, clambering up onto the kitchen island like a gangly string of spaghetti to reach up into the cereal cupboard. He pulled and pushed boxes aside to find his favourite. There they were in all their sugary, delicious, diabetes-inducing glory. Lucky Charms. Hopping off the counter, he grabbed a ceramic mug from the side and filled it with the cereal. Even with the full cup he still shovelled handfuls of the sugary goodness into his mouth from the box. You never know how hungry you are until you make provisions and eat them all, and still crave more. Alec was being smart in that scenario. He then pushed the cardboard tab back in place to close the box, and tidied the cabinet so it looked untouched, before grabbing the mug and going back to the bedroom. He froze mid step, gingerly trying to hide the mug behind his back as he saw Magnus in the doorway.
