Alec laid awake in his bed at the institute. There was a mission the next day, and Alec was on lockdown with the rest of the institute and he couldn't sleep. Being locked down meant he couldn't leave to see Magnus, he had to stay in and retrace his runes then train more. There was a greater demon said to be hiding out in Magnus' club, The Pandemonium, and the best were being sent out to kill it. Magnus knew, but said that any damage done to his building was to be paid for by the Clave. They'd agreed with stern faces. Negotiating with a warlock would have been put down easily, and the Clave would have refused to pay if Alec wasn't with him when it happened. Being the Head of the Institute had its perks.

Alec swung his legs over the side of his bed, and shuffled to the end of it to open the chest at the bottom. He pulled on a shirt and jacket, and glamoured his bow in its holster on his leg. Screw lockdown. He was going to see Magnus. He opened the latch in his window, went over his runes, and then leapt out. The 'Sure-Footed' rune made sure he didn't break any bones, and the 'Swift' and 'Soundless' runes made sure he wasn't heard as he made his escape. He was glamoured from mundanes, and had to navigate through crowds of drunken and aggressive ones to get to Magnus' part of the city. He slowed as he got inside, taking the stairs instead of the lift. He took out his key and unlocked the door, walking in to see Magnus draped along the dining table singing opera quite badly. The music was so loud he didn't even realise Alec walking in. "Magnus." He laughed, turning the volume dial on the stereo down. The falsetto died down, and Magnus sat upright before sliding off the table to make his way towards Alec. The minor height difference was cute, Magnus had to tilt his head up ever so slightly to look Alec in the eyes, and Alec relished in it.

"Sneaking out of the institute? My my." Magnus raised an eyebrow, and Alec pushed forward to kiss him. There wasn't time to waste, the institute was rigged, and the staff would realise Alec was gone soon enough. "I don't have much time." Alec murmured against Magnus' lips, and the warlock smiled. Alec could feel it. "Well let's make what time you have worth your while." He hushed, and backed Alec up against the wall. He slipped a finger between Alec's jeans and his thigh holster, feeling at the material pliant under his fingers. Their lips didn't detach, and Alec wasn't one to argue about that. One hand went into Magnus' hair, the other rested on Magnus' hip. Alec's phone rang just as Magnus had tugged Alec's jacket and shirt off his torso, and the sheen of his sweat glimmered in the orange light of the loft. Alec tossed his phone aside as it rang, and busied himself with the tangle of necklaces around his boyfriend's neck. He used them to keep Magnus impeccably close to him, foreheads, chins, noses touching as they kissed. Alec's phone kept ringing, and he managed to pull away for a split second to pick it up and answer it. "Hello?" He choked. The brick wall was biting into his shoulders, and so was Magnus. There was no chance Alec would get out of there without at least one mark on his pale skin.

"Yes. I'll come back. Sorry." Alec kept his replies to Maryse short and simple, as the feeling of Magnus sucking on his neck was too much to cope with. Alec shoved his phone away, and Magnus shuffled back to admire his handiwork. "You have to go." Magnus stated, ducking to pick up Alec's shirt and hand it to him reluctantly. Alec pulled the material over his head and smiled. "Thank you for making my night memorable, Magnus." He slid his jacket on, and leaned in for another quick kiss before walking towards the door. Magnus smoothed Alec's hair down. "Kick ass, take names." Magnus mumbled before Alec left.

Alec got a talk the next morning from Maryse and Robert. They'd rigged his room up with cameras as he had a reputation for sneaking out to see Magnus when the institute was on lockdown. Alec was surprised his mother hadn't put bars on his windows. That night was no different. Alec was running the top of his stele along his arrows and trying to block out his father's yelling. "We told you the whole institute was on lockdown, and what do you do? You leave! It's unsaf- is that a hickey?" He cut himself off abruptly, and pushed down the collar of Alec's shadowhunter gear. Alec flushed pink before regaining his composure. "Yes. From Magnus." Alec raised an eyebrow, and saw Robert go red and puffy like a tomato. Isabelle stood in the sidelines examining a seraph blade and laughing at Alec's bluntness. "So that's where you went." Maryse nodded from beside Robert. She winked in his direction, and Robert still choked on air. His homophobia seemed to be choking him. No one was complaining. Alec slid his arrows into his quiver, and strapped his bow to its holster. It was late, the workers at the institute were busy helping the shadowhunters get ready for the mission, and the greater demon would be partying when they got there. It was a shapeshifter apparently, and not difficult to track down. It had all black eyes that couldn't be glamoured, so would be able to be found relatively easily.

Everyone set out. Jace, Alec, Izzy, Clary, Maryse. Simon, Raphael and Luke even joined with the Clan and the pack. Robert was staying back to keep order in the institute. Everyone dressed up nicely, glamouring underneath their clothes so it looked like they didn't have their gear on. Alec had a simple white button up shirt on along with his black jeans. He didn't want to overdo it. When they'd all gotten to The Pandemonium, Alec had entered first. The rest followed behind before splitting up. The building was mostly a downworlder club, but had its fair share of mundane visitors. Alec was the first to see the greater demon. It was huddled in a corner away from everyone else, sipping a martini. It was staring Alec straight in the eyes too. Alec grabbed his glamoured bow and pulled it back, before shooting through a small gap of people. The sea of party goers moved constantly, but Alec wasn't afraid of hitting any of them. He was a good shot. The demon was gone before the arrow hit it, and had Alec against a wall. He was raised off the ground, the demons hand around his neck. He was choking now, all air in his lungs gone or trapped.

Alec glanced over the heads of the dancers, over and beyond as he tried to make out the now blurry faces of his Parabatai and sister. His eyelids dropped slowly, he felt so tired. He woke up for a moment though. The demon had its forked tongue out, flicking it around in the air as blood pooled around its shirt. Someone had stabbed it. It was Luke. Luke didn't stab it, he slashed down its chest. Alec was dropped from the wall, and managed to swing a seraph blade at its body as it went for Luke. It's arm was slashed off, and it yelled in pain. Black shimmering ichor dripped from the gaping wound. Alec nodded at Luke who turned to run towards his pack. Now it was just Alec and the demon. "I'll rip your pretty little face off." Is shrieked. It sounded like it had swallowed sandpaper and chalk, dry, scratchy. "Don't be rude." Alec tilted his head before running, picking up speed before ramming his angel blade into the demon. It missed the heart. Pierced the flesh just to the left. Alec cursed. "I'll make your little sister watch too. And that boyfriend of yours." It snarled, before choking on something Alec couldn't see. "You called?" Lilted a familiar voice. Magnus. He had his hand in the air, blue fire enveloping them as what looked like ichor was regurgitated by the demon. It glittered under the artificial lights, as did Magnus, and Alec finished the demon off with a seraph blade to the heart. Actually in the heart this time.

Isabelle, Jace, Clary, Simon, Maryse, Simon, Raphael and the clan, Luke and the pack. They all rendezvoused at the front door of the club. Drenched in black fluids, they were avoided by anyone and everyone. Their glamours had worn off, and Alec just sighed. He'd dropped his stele. Everyone left theirs at the institute. Before everyone left to go back the the institute, Magnus pulled Alec to the side. "Magnus I have to go to the institute, report back to Idris." Alec sighed. His boyfriend took Alec's face in his hands. "Come home. What's twenty four hours going to change, my dear?" He smiled and Alec nodded. They didn't bother saying goodbye, Alec knew his mother would try get him to go back. So they left, hand in hand, bloody and tired. When they got into the loft, Magnus helped Alec out of his still-damp clothes. After Alec was half undressed, Magnus took the liberty of kissing him sweetly, not too hard nor too soft. "I'm going to run you a bath, and then we are going to watch really bad films from the eighties. Sound good?" Magnus smiled and folded Alec's clothes up on the coffee table. "That sounds amazing." Alec planted a kiss on Magnus' temple just as he walked past him to the bathroom. Alec's phone chimed. He sighed.

Mum: You're supposed to be in the institute. We need the report! Love you xx

Alec just typed a small thing back, too occupied with the smell of lavender drifting hazily towards Alec from the bathroom.

Alec: I'll do it tomorrow. I'm with Magnus. Too tired. Love you too xx

And with that he padded into the bathroom where Magnus was kneeled over the bathtub with his hand underneath the rushing flow of water coming from the tap.
