Song ~ The Neighbourhood - Sweater Weather
~
Matters of the institute had died down, everything had been decluttered and everything was calm. The envoy from the Clave was running the institute for a few days, so everyone got to chill out. Magnus had insisted going to Peru, but that idea had died as soon as it surfaced due to Magnus' ban. Alec wanted to stay at home with Magnus, but everyone said they wanted to be together, and Alec had rolled his eyes more times than humanly possible. After an hour of sitting in Magnus' loft and eating crap Chinese food that Luke had brought, arguing, they'd decided. They were going to the beach.

Alec disliked beaches. The sand was always burning hot and he hated crabs with a burning passion and once he swallowed a ton of salt water and had to throw it all back up at the institute. It was traumatic to say the least. But Isabelle desperately wanted to go, Simon was free, (he's always free tbh someone go places with the poor boy) Magnus rather liked the beach, Luke's pack wanted to give Luke a rest, Jace and Clary proposed the idea, and Alec just fell to sleep with his head in Magnus' lap. So this left Alec clinging onto Magnus naked body in bed, begging him to stay home for the weekend. Previous nightly activities made sure that no clothing restricted the touches, and Magnus was deeply considering blowing the whole beach trip off (as well as blowing something else entirely). "Do we have to?" Alec murmured and Magnus pulled from him a final time, actually getting away this time. "Come on, sweet pea. We promised." Magnus laughed. "No, you promised. I slept." Alec frowned and buried himself in the silk sheets. "I'm going to make some coffee. By the time I come back you better have gotten up too." Said Magnus, sliding the sleeves of his kimono over his caramel arms. Alec groaned loudly. "Or what?" Alec's sleepy words were muffled by the pillows, but Magnus heard him nonetheless. "Or else." Magnus raised and eyebrow as Alec turned to look at him. "I like it when you're all mysterious." Said Alec, before Magnus turned and walked to the kitchen.

By the time Magnus came back with the coffee, Alec was dressed fully and throwing his phone around. Magnus threw him a wink, handing him his mug before placing his own down. Magnus got dressed himself, putting on some shorts. That was it. Just slightly tight-fitting shorts. No underwear. Magnus was risqué at times. He threw on a lace kaftan on over the top, and left Alec smiling. Alec himself wore a white tshirt and shorts, more than Magnus, but he still looked good. The two drank their coffee, kissing between every sip, before portalling to the institute. Everyone was waiting, wearing their beach clothes, and Isabelle gawked at Magnus' kaftan. "Where did you get that?" She shouted amidst all the cheering. Magnus tapped his nose, then opened a portal. When everyone was through, they were all at the beach in California. (I decided against LA) It was quite full, but the group couldn't care less. While Jace, Simon, and Luke set up the towels and stuff, the girls stood aside. Magnus and Alec set their own space up beside everyone else. Alec pulled a tube of something from the beach bag. "It's really warm and I don't tan very well so could you please put some suncream on my back?" Alec asked sheepishly, pulling his shirt off with one clean motion. Magnus smirked to himself, before uncapping the suncream and pouring a large amount onto his hand. (What? Alec has broad shoulders) while Magnus did Alec's back, Isabelle gave them both a point, and everyone turned to look. Alec put cream on his face, arms, and legs. He didn't have chance to do his chest and stomach as Magnus was reaching around his sides to do it himself. Once that was done, everyone went to the water. Everyone but Alec. Even Magnus had pulled off the lace kaftan and made his way down to the lapping ocean waves. People had stared. Magnus' skin was caramel and glistening under the sun. "Alec? Alec, come on!" Isabelle had shouted, and then Alec was assaulted by the other voices of everyone else on the trip. He shook his head before standing and going down. Everyone was splashing each other, and Magnus had stopped to meet Alec halfway. He took the shadowhunter by his hands and tugged him further in, deeper till the water reached his hips. "Why are you scared? You're a shadowhunter." Said Magnus, and Alec grimaced. "I have my reasons." Alec coughed, dipping a hand in the water to run it through his hair, pushing his awkward fringe back.
