Magnus sat up in bed, silk sheets curled around the lower half of his body, and blinked repeatedly as his eyes adjusted to the light being let into the bedroom. Alec must have opened the curtains as Magnus slept, and there was a steaming mug of coffee on the bedside table. He grumbled and pushed his flat fringe back with a hand, before shuffling across the mattress to grab the cup and take a long sip. It was still hot, so Alec couldn't have gotten up ages ago. He glanced over at the window again, getting lost in the breeze of summer air and the flutter of the mesh curtains. When he snapped out of his daydream, he swung his bare legs over the side of the bed and got to his feet. It was then that he realised that the breeze wasn't as warm as he thought it was. He shivered, and padded over to his chair at the vanity table. His makeup collection could rival that of Isabelle's, and he had quite an expansive collection of magical jewellery. He leaned back in his chair, indecisive, before cupping his hands around his mouth and shouting. "Alexander?" His voice cracked, and Alec heard his boyfriend from two rooms over. He was tidying Magnus' study up. A failed spell the previous night had left a pool of thick black gunk up to Magnus' ankles on the floor. He'd simply gone to bed without cleaning it. Alec stood up from sitting on his knees, and stretched. Sweeping pixie dust up from the floor wasn't easy, especially when it clouded up in Alec's face and made his brain go fuzzy. He put the dustpan and brush down on Magnus' desk, and made his way through the loft. Magnus was seated opposite his vanity, draped over his chair dramatically. "What's wrong? Did the coffee burn you again?" He chuckled and swept along the floorboards to crouch and press a kiss to Magnus' lips. Magnus tasted of bitter coffee, Alec like the powdered doughnut he'd bought on the way back from a mission at the institute.

"Can you do my makeup?" Magnus sighed, looking at Alec with pleading eyes. Those yellow green cat eyes that made Alec melt. "I'll do it. Colours?" Alec raised an eyebrow, and smiled as he watched his boyfriend's face light up. Magnus turned with one leg crossed over the other, and flipped through a portfolio of his makeup combinations from crazy to elaborate. Alec's favourite was the one where Magnus had gold and silver on. Through the time he and Magnus had been together, Alec had perfected the art of applying makeup, painting nails, gelling hair. He knew the first two anyway, Isabelle had Alec throw small parties in their bedrooms when they were younger and had free time away from training and tutoring. Magnus set out the makeup. Alec smoothed a wipe over Magnus' face, and he scrunched his nose up in surprise. "Stay still." Alec's fingers wove between the soft fibres of Magnus' hair. Alec dabbed a foundation pad over Magnus' face, blending it expertly like he'd watched Isabelle do. His favourite part was the eyeshadow and eyeliner. He loathed the glitter part. Glitter got everywhere and fell out everywhere and Alec was still finding it on his clothes from the previous week. He smiled at his handiwork when he'd finished the eyeshadow. It was gold, shimmering. It matched Magnus' cat eyes. He'd done a line of silver eyeliner beneath Magnus' eyes too, and pushed Magnus' fringe back when he'd finished. He'd also put highlight on his boyfriend, the gold shimmering under the light of the vanity's artificial bulbs. Magnus checked it in the mirror, and nodded when he saw it was more than decent. Having an eighteen year old shadowhunter boyfriend with a stamina rune was good; having an eighteen year old shadowhunter with a stamina rune and knowledge of makeup was even better. Alec got to his feet and walked across the room to pick up the neglected mug of now-cold coffee. "Want another one?" He raised an eyebrow. Magnus shook his head. "I'm okay. Don't we have a meeting to get to? At the institute?" Magnus shot up like a bullet and frantically ran to his and Alec's wardrobe, skidding and almost falling on the hardwood floor. Alec made his way over to Magnus, and snaked his arms around his waist to clasp them tight around him and pull him flush against his chest. Alec could feel Magnus' shoulders relaxing through his shirt, and sighed into the back of Magnus' neck.

"We have an hour, Magnus." Alec let go of his boyfriend to take hold of his hand. Magnus leaned in and kissed Alec gently, barely even there, and pulled his hand away to go back to the wardrobe. "Well I'd like to be ready, my dear." He smiled and started pushing coat hangers aside to check what he could wear to the institute without being called provocative. Alec walked off to the study again, to finish cleaning the remainder of the black gunk and fairy dust. When Magnus was ready a while later, Alec felt relieved. He could have Magnus to himself for the next half an hour till they had to go to the institute. Magnus wore a sunflower yellow satin button up shirt, black jeans, and his hair was gelled up to its 'natural' spikes. He dressed even brighter than usual when the sun was out, it had an effect on him that Alec was still working out. Alec had changed since he'd come back from the institute, and had his baby pink kimono on over black plaid pyjama bottoms, with bare feet. Alec sat cross legged on the floor of the study, precariously sweeping up small amounts of fairy dust with a dustpan and brush. He wasn't risking getting drugged up by it again. He looked up at Magnus, and smiled. The sunlight from the opposing window bathed Magnus in gold, and the highlight on his boyfriend's cheekbones made him glow. Alec was good at doing highlight. Magnus motioned at the heaped pile of pixie dust in front of Alec, and it flew through the air to deposit itself in the now half-filled jar.

Alec stood up and walked into Magnus' arms what were already open for him. Despite being slightly taller and broader Alec was the one to be cuddled, and Alec was the little spoon in bed. It was cute, really. Magnus enjoyed draping himself over Alec in bed too, and feeling Alec run his hands through his soft black hair. Alec was one to take care of Magnus, but also be taken care of. Alec was gentle and soft and so very very gay for Magnus. Magnus thumbed at the silk of the kimono Alec was wearing, and Alec just relaxed in his boyfriend's arms. Magnus always had a way of calming Alec, even if Alec didn't know he needed to be calm. "Coffee?" Alec's word was muffled by the satin collar of Magnus' shirt, and somehow Magnus still heard him clearly. He pulled from Alec to clasp his hand in his own, and tugged the tired shadowhunter towards the kitchen. Alec made two mugs of steaming coffee; strong and sweet, just like the couple themselves. Alec managed to drink all his in five minutes, only sustaining a burn on the tip of his tongue. Magnus leaned against the counter with his half-full mug, watching Alec untie the drawstring around his waist. The kimono opened and Alec's milky skin was out in the open. Black runes that had been recently retraced stood darker than usual on Alec, and it just added to the overall beauty of him. Magnus really would never get enough of Alec. He ran a hand through his hair, pressed a gentle kiss to Magnus' shimmering lips, and turned to walk into the bedroom and change. The cleaning of the study meant he had fairy dust residue on his kneecaps, and he gave silent praise to the angel that he didn't wear his gear when tidying. He folded his gear up to take back to the institute, and put on some black jeans and a black jumper that had more or less faded to a dark grey. It was cable knit, and felt soft as opposed to scratchy on his skin.

He pushed his fringe back, not caring for anything else, and walked back to where Magnus was. "Look at you all cosy." The warlock mused, extending a hand to pull Alec toward him. The two stood like that for a while, Alec playing with the hem of the yellow shirt Magnus was wearing and Magnus carefully running his hands through Alec's rapidly growing fringe. When the two had to go to the institute, Magnus drank his coffee and summoned a portal at the same time, his ringed hand being captured with Alec's before it dropped to his side again. They stepped in, feeling the stomach churning feeling of travelling in a portal, and were thrown out in Alec's old bedroom. The two left to wait in the main research area of the institute, and stood on themselves. Magnus pulled his hand from Alec's, and the shadowhunter reached out for it again, but Magnus had already slid his hand into one of his pockets. He fished out a strip of velvet, with a chain and clasp on each end. He hand it out to Alec. "I couldn't put this on earlier. Can you do it for me?" He looked up at Alec again, those pleading eyes making Alec's mind turn to mush. He picked up the velvet with care, not wanting to break it with his worn hands, and instructed Magnus to turn around. He successfully clasped it around Magnus' neck, looking up from the tan skin below his boyfriends hair to see Isabelle and Jace smiling at the two. Isabelle was stupidly grinning, proud that she got to see that moment happen, and Jace had a smile that seemed to be held back. As if he had too much pride to fanboy over his Parabatai and his Parabatai's boyfriend being domestic. Isabelle hugged them both, and so did Jace. Magnus ended up plucking a few strands of Jace's golden hair and placing them in a small plastic bag. Alec looked as him confusedly. "Vampire hair is good for potions, haven't tested shadowhunter hair yet."  He mouthed, and Alec rolled his eyes and reached out to grab Magnus' hand again. The meeting was boring, and throughout it Alec was barely listening. He just held Magnus' hand and messed with the rings, taking one off to put it on his own hand. Isabelle smiled from the other end of the table, and everyone else just watched as one of the strongest shadowhunters to ever exist, from one of the most powerful families, was being gentle and playing with silver jewelled rings on his boyfriend's hand. After the meeting had ended Isabelle complemented Magnus, and Alec smiled. "I love your makeup, Magnus. The gold looks really good with your skin." She'd said, and Magnus squeezed Alec's hand and gestured to him. "Thank your brother for that. He did my makeup today." Alec flushed pink. "Alec?" Isabelle grinned in disbelief. "Good isn't he?" Magnus nudged his boyfriend with his shoulder. "He's blushing." Jace commented as he walked up the the trio. "I'm not." Alec denied, his blue eyes blazing with embarrassment.

"You deserve the complements, Alexander." Magnus leaned over and kissed Alec's pink cheek.
