Song ~ Daughter - New Ways
~
The soft pitter patter of rain was heard through the thick ceiling of the loft. Normally, Magnus would've blocked it out, soundproofed it, but Alec liked the sound and he didn't want to disrupt the angel boy's sleep. He dragged fingers over Alec's shoulder, mapping out little rings of wispy magic that pricked the almost-white skin and provoked goosebumps. After a while of just laying there, drifting in and out of serene bliss, Alec finally stirred. He turned just a little, awkwardly and tiredly, to be able to squint at his boyfriend's beautiful face. "What time is it?" Were Alec's first words, and Magnus found himself chuckling warmly. "Half past twelve." He murmured, remembering that he checked his phone not long ago to look at both the time and weather forecast for that particular week. It was meant to rain all the way through, and thunder at night. A whole week of miserable weather that no doubt Alec would love.

"And is that what I get first thing in the morning? You worrying about work?" Magnus huffed a puff of air, the gust pushing back a flat piece of Alec's black fringe. Alec shushed Magnus, moving closer all long limbs and tight muscle, pressing a kiss to Magnus' hand that had moved from his shoulder to his face. He curled around Magnus like Church would, and smushed his face up with his hands before planting another kiss on his now pouted lips. They melted into it like butter on a hot pan, as if the golden sunlight spilling in through the organza draped windows could somehow reduce them to liquid too. Alec kissed slow, dragged out. It was gentle and cosy and warm and with a slight drag of his own facial hair. Working late meant he usually didn't have time to shave, and Magnus sighed happily at the sight of the dark scruff smothered on Alec's jaw like charcoal dust on a white canvas.

Magnus matched however Alec kissed. He could be warm and smooth too, like then, but he could push into Alec's touch and cause the shadowhunter to shake a little and give in. He could have in fact done it then but he was blinded by the gentle haze of morning transitioning into afternoon, stuck in a pocket of time between AM and PM, a place where time didn't feel like it existed at all, and it was heavenly. Alec's mouth was soft and slow-moving, and as they parted for air he found himself halfway through a sentence. "-we go out for tea?" Magnus smiled warmly. "Say again?" He ran his thumbs over Alec's eyelids, feeling them flutter beneath his hands like a butterfly's wings. "Can we go out for tea?" Alec repeated, looking hopeful with his pretty hazel eyes wide. "Of course." Magnus smiled, and started to get up. Alec looped his wrists around the warlock's back, making it hard for him to get up at all. "Let me adjust." Alec whined, breaking out into a smile at how Magnus just instantly clambered back into bed and cuddled up even closer. Alec's face was against his collarbone, and Alec was pressing Magnus to him like a teddy bear.

"Adjusted, sweetheart?" Magnus asked after a while, carding his fingers through Alec's hair. He'd fallen asleep again. "Alec?" Magnus goaded, pulling at Alec's ear with two fingers and pinching it. "Go away izzy." Alec murmured, and Magnus grinned. "Shadowhunter..." he tried, and Alec sleepily pressed a kiss to Magnus' neck. "Alexander." Magnus laughed when Alec suddenly lifted his head as if he'd been awake the whole time. His eyelids were hooded over and if Magnus was to be totally honest he'd say Alec maybe even looked a little high. "I'm awake am I late?" He blurted, then realised what he'd said and groaned. "Tea." He added, before rolling over to press his back against Magnus' front. "We're going out for tea, remember? Come on get up." Magnus said and prodded Alec, and before Alec could drift back off into his starch white, cherub filled dreamland he rolled over and off the bed. He heard the thud, then only the soft thrum of rain. It was pretty heavy, which would make the day even better for Alec. Since the warm-rain 'incident' Alec fell in love, and now every time it rained Alec got excited and puppy like. "I'm okay." He confirmed, and stood up awkwardly. Magnus praised the gods for the clothing, or rather the lack of, on Alec. He looked stunning in nothing, obviously, but Magnus relished in the sight of the gold light spilling over every curve of Alec's skin like angelic ichor. "You have to get up too Magnus, shadowhunters orders." Alec raised an eyebrow, padding over to the bathroom where he plucked his toothbrush from its holder and the toothpaste from the mirror cabinet on the wall.
